Comparative Analysis of Password Storage Security using Double Secure Hash Algorithm. 2022 IEEE North Karnataka Subsection Flagship International Conference (NKCon). :1—5.
.
2022. Passwords are generally used to keep unauthorized users out of the system. Password hacking has become more common as the number of internet users has extended, causing a slew of issues. These problems include stealing the confidential information of a company or a country by adversaries which harm the economy or the security of the organization. Hackers often use password hacking for criminal activities. It is indispensable to protect passwords from hackers. There are many hacking methods such as credential stuffing, social engineering, traffic interception, and password spraying for hacking the passwords. So, in order to control hacking, there are hashing algorithms that are mostly used to hash passwords making password cracking more difficult. In this proposed work, different hashing algorithms such as SHA-1, MD-5, Salted MD-5, SHA-256, and SHA-512 have been used. And the MySQL database is used to store the hash values of passwords that are generated using various hash functions. It is proven that SHA is better than MD-5 and Salted MD-5. Whereas in the SHA family, SHA-512 and SHA-256 have their own benefits. Four new hashing functions have been proposed using the combination of existing algorithms like SHA-256, and SHA-512 namely SHA-256\_with\_SHA-256, SHA-256\_ With\_SHA-512,SHA-512\_With\_SHA-512,and SHA-512\_ With\_SHA-256. They provide strong hash value for passwords by which the security of passwords increases, and hacking can be controlled to an extent.

Deep Learning Toward Preventing Web Attacks. 2022 5th International Conference on Computing and Informatics (ICCI). :280–285.
.
2022. Cyberattacks are one of the most pressing issues of our time. The impact of cyberthreats can damage various sectors such as business, health care, and governments, so one of the best solutions to deal with these cyberattacks and reduce cybersecurity threats is using Deep Learning. In this paper, we have created an in-depth study model to detect SQL Injection Attacks and Cross-Site Script attacks. We focused on XSS on the Stored-XSS attack type because SQL and Stored-XSS have similar site management methods. The advantage of combining deep learning with cybersecurity in our system is to detect and prevent short-term attacks without human interaction, so our system can reduce and prevent web attacks. This post-training model achieved a more accurate result more than 99% after maintaining the learning level, and 99% of our test data is determined by this model if this input is normal or dangerous.

Efficient Brute-force handling methodology using Indexed-Cluster Architecture of Splunk. 2022 International Conference on Electronics and Renewable Systems (ICEARS). :697–701.
.
2022. A brute force is a Hacking methodology used to decrypt login passwords, keys and credentials. Hacks that exploit vulnerabilities in packages are rare, whereas Brute Force attacks aim to be the simplest, cheapest, and most straightforward approach to access a website. Using Splunk to analyse massive amounts of data could be very beneficial. The application enables to capture, search, and analyse log information in real-time. By analysing logs as well as many different sources of system information, security events can be uncovered. A log file, which details the events that have occurred in the environment of the application and the server on which they run, is a valuable piece of information. Identifying the attacks against these systems is possible by analysing and correlating this information. Massive amounts of ambiguous and amorphous information can be analysed with its superior resolution. The paper includes instructions on setting up a Splunk server and routing information there from multiple sources. Practical search examples and pre-built add-on applications are provided. Splunk is a powerful tool that allows users to explore big data with greater ease. Seizure can be tracked in near real-time and can be searched through logs. A short amount of time can be spent on analysing big data using map-reduce technology. Briefly, it helps to analyse unstructured log data to better understand how the applications operate. With Splunk, client can detect patterns in the data through a powerful query language. It is easy to set up alerts and warnings based on the queries, which will help alert client about an ongoing (suspected) activity and generate a notification in real-time.
Ibn Omar Hash Algorithm. 2022 14th International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Communication Networks (CICN). :753—756.
.
2022. A hash is a fixed-length output of some data that has been through a one-way function that cannot be reversed, called the hashing algorithm. Hashing algorithms are used to store secure information, such as passwords. They are stored as hashes after they have been through a hashing algorithm. Also, hashing algorithms are used to insure the checksum of certain data over the internet. This paper discusses how Ibn Omar's hashing algorithm will provide higher security for data than other hash functions used nowadays. Ibn Omar's hashing algorithm in produces an output of 1024 bits, four times as SHA256 and twice as SHA512. Ibn Omar's hashing algorithm reduces the vulnerability of a hash collision due to its size. Also, it would require enormous computational power to find a collision. There are eight salts per input. This hashing algorithm aims to provide high privacy and security for users.
Insider Attack Detection and Prevention using Server Authentication using Elgamal Encryption. 2022 International Conference on Inventive Computation Technologies (ICICT). :967—972.
.
2022. Web services are growing demand with fundamental advancements and have given more space to researchers for improving security of all real world applications. Accessing and get authenticated in many applications on web services, user discloses their password and other privacy data to the server for authentication purposes. These shared information should be maintained by the server with high security, otherwise it can be used for illegal purposes for any authentication breach. Protecting the applications from various attacks is more important. Comparing the security threats, insider attacks are most challenging to identify due to the fact that they use the authentication of legitimate users and their privileges to access the application and may cause serious threat to the application. Insider attacks has been studied in previous researchers with different security measures, however there is no much strong work proposed. Various security protocols were proposed for defending insider attackers. The proposed work focused on insider attack protection through Elgamal cryptography technique. The proposed work is much effective on insider attacks and also defends against various attacks. The proposed protocol is better than existing works. The key computation cost and communication cost is relatively low in this proposed work. The proposed work authenticates the application by parallel process of two way authentication mechanism through Elgamal algorithm.
Keystroke Dynamics based User Authentication using Deep Learning Neural Networks. 2022 International Conference on Cyberworlds (CW). :220–227.
.
2022. Keystroke dynamics is one solution to enhance the security of password authentication without adding any disruptive handling for users. Industries are looking for more security without impacting too much user experience. Considered as a friction-less solution, keystroke dynamics is a powerful solution to increase trust during user authentication without adding charge to the user. In this paper, we address the problem of user authentication considering the keystroke dynamics modality. We proposed a new approach based on the conversion of behavioral biometrics data (time series) into a 3D image. This transformation process keeps all the characteristics of the behavioral signal. The time series do not receive any filtering operation with this transformation and the method is bijective. This transformation allows us to train images based on convolutional neural networks. We evaluate the performance of the authentication system in terms of Equal Error Rate (EER) on a significant dataset and we show the efficiency of the proposed approach on a multi-instance system.

.
2022. Thefts problem in household needs to be anticipated with home security system. One of simple methods is using automatic solenoid door lock system, so that it is difficult to be duplicated and will reduce the chance of theft action when the house is empty. Therefore, a home security system prototype that can be accessed by utilizing biometric fingerprint, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), and keypad sensors was designed and tested. Arduino Uno works to turn on the door lock solenoid, so door access will be given when authentication is successful. Experimental results show that fingerprint sensor works well by being able to read fingerprints perfectly and the average time required to scan a fingerprint was 3.7 seconds. Meanwhile, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensor detects Electronic-Kartu Tanda Penduduk (E-KTP) and the average time required for Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to scan the card is about 2.4 seconds. Keypad functions to store password to unlock the door which produces the average time of 3.7 seconds after 10 trials. Average time to open with multi-sensor is 9.8 seconds. However, its drawback is no notification or SMS which directly be accessed by a cellphone or website with Wi-Fi or Telegram applications allow homeowners to monitor their doors from afar as to minimize the number of house thefts.

A Study on Brute Force Attack on T-Mobile Leading to SIM-Hijacking and Identity-Theft. 2022 IEEE World AI IoT Congress (AIIoT). :501–507.
.
2022. The 2021 T-Mobile breach conducted by John Erin Binns resulted in the theft of 54 million customers' personal data. The attacker gained entry into T-Mobile's systems through an unprotected router and used brute force techniques to access the sensitive information stored on the internal servers. The data stolen included names, addresses, Social Security Numbers, birthdays, driver's license numbers, ID information, IMEIs, and IMSIs. We analyze the data breach and how it opens the door to identity theft and many other forms of hacking such as SIM Hijacking. SIM Hijacking is a form of hacking in which bad actors can take control of a victim's phone number allowing them means to bypass additional safety measures currently in place to prevent fraud. This paper thoroughly reviews the attack methodology, impact, and attempts to provide an understanding of important measures and possible defense solutions against future attacks. We also detail other social engineering attacks that can be incurred from releasing the leaked data.
Two-Stage AES Encryption Method Based on Stochastic Error of a Neural Network. 2022 IEEE 16th International Conference on Advanced Trends in Radioelectronics, Telecommunications and Computer Engineering (TCSET). :381–385.
.
2022. This paper proposes a new two-stage encryption method to increase the cryptographic strength of the AES algorithm, which is based on stochastic error of a neural network. The composite encryption key in AES neural network cryptosystem are the weight matrices of synaptic connections between neurons and the metadata about the architecture of the neural network. The stochastic nature of the prediction error of the neural network provides an ever-changing pair key-ciphertext. Different topologies of the neural networks and the use of various activation functions increase the number of variations of the AES neural network decryption algorithm. The ciphertext is created by the forward propagation process. The encryption result is reversed back to plaintext by the reverse neural network functional operator.

Evaluation of the Predictability of Passwords of Computer Engineering Students. 2022 3rd International Informatics and Software Engineering Conference (IISEC). :1–6.
.
2022. As information and communication technologies evolve every day, so does the use of technology in our daily lives. Along with our increasing dependence on digital information assets, security vulnerabilities are becoming more and more apparent. Passwords are a critical component of secure access to digital systems and applications. They not only prevent unauthorized access to these systems, but also distinguish the users of such systems. Research on password predictability often relies on surveys or leaked data. Therefore, there is a gap in the literature for studies that consider real data in this regard. This study investigates the password security awareness of 161 computer engineering students enrolled in a Linux-based undergraduate course at Ataturk University. The study is conducted in two phases, and in the first phase, 12 dictionaries containing also real student data are formed. In the second phase of the study, a dictionary-based brute-force attack is utilized by means of a serial and parallel version of a Bash script to crack the students’ passwords. In this respect, the /etc/shadow file of the Linux system is used as a basis to compare the hashed versions of the guessed passwords. As a result, the passwords of 23 students, accounting for 14% of the entire student group, were cracked. We believe that this is an unacceptably high prediction rate for such a group with high digital literacy. Therefore, due to this important finding of the study, we took immediate action and shared the results of the study with the instructor responsible for administering the information security course that is included in our curriculum and offered in one of the following semesters.
SIMulation: Demystifying (Insecure) Cellular Network based One-Tap Authentication Services. 2022 52nd Annual IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN). :534–546.
.
2022. A recently emerged cellular network based One-Tap Authentication (OTAuth) scheme allows app users to quickly sign up or log in to their accounts conveniently: Mobile Network Operator (MNO) provided tokens instead of user passwords are used as identity credentials. After conducting a first in-depth security analysis, however, we have revealed several fundamental design flaws among popular OTAuth services, which allow an adversary to easily (1) perform unauthorized login and register new accounts as the victim, (2) illegally obtain identities of victims, and (3) interfere OTAuth services of legitimate apps. To further evaluate the impact of our identified issues, we propose a pipeline that integrates both static and dynamic analysis. We examined 1,025/894 Android/iOS apps, each app holding more than 100 million installations. We confirmed 396/398 Android/iOS apps are affected. Our research systematically reveals the threats against OTAuth services. Finally, we provide suggestions on how to mitigate these threats accordingly.

Secure Storage System Using Cryptographic Techniques. 2022 Fifth International Conference of Women in Data Science at Prince Sultan University (WiDS PSU). :138–142.
.
2022. In the era of Internet usage growth, storage services are widely used where users' can store their data, while hackers techniques pose massive threats to users' data security. The proposed system introduces multiple layers of security where data confidentiality, integrity and availability are achieved using honey encryption, hashed random passwords as well as detecting intruders and preventing them. The used techniques can ensure security against brute force and denial of service attacks. Our proposed methodology proofs the efficiency for storing and retrieving data using honey words and password hashing with less execution time and more security features achieved compared with other systems. Other systems depend on user password leading to easily predict it, we avoid this approach by making the password given to the user is randomly generated which make it unpredictable and hard to break. Moreover, we created a simple user interface to interact with users to take their inputs and store them along with the given password in true database, if an adversary detected, he will be processed as a normal user but with fake information taken from another database called false database, after that, the admin will be notified about this illegitimate access by providing the IP address. This approach will make the admin have continuous detection and ensure availability and confidentiality. Our execution time is efficient as the encryption process takes 244 ms and decryption 229 ms.
Intrusion Detection using a Graphical Fingerprint Model. 2022 22nd IEEE International Symposium on Cluster, Cloud and Internet Computing (CCGrid). :806–813.
.
2022. The Activity and Event Network (AEN) graph is a new framework that allows modeling and detecting intrusions by capturing ongoing security-relevant activity and events occurring at a given organization using a large time-varying graph model. The graph is generated by processing various network security logs, such as network packets, system logs, and intrusion detection alerts. In this paper, we show how known attack methods can be captured generically using attack fingerprints based on the AEN graph. The fingerprints are constructed by identifying attack idiosyncrasies under the form of subgraphs that represent indicators of compromise (IOes), and then encoded using Property Graph Query Language (PGQL) queries. Among the many attack types, three main categories are implemented as a proof of concept in this paper: scanning, denial of service (DoS), and authentication breaches; each category contains its common variations. The experimental evaluation of the fingerprints was carried using a combination of intrusion detection datasets and yielded very encouraging results.

Secure Hashing using BCrypt for Cryptographic Applications. 2022 IEEE North Karnataka Subsection Flagship International Conference (NKCon). :1—5.
.
2022. Impactful data breaches that exposed the online accounts and financial information of billions of individuals have increased recently because of the digitization of numerous industries. As a result, the need for comprehensive cybersecurity measures has risen, particularly with regard to the safekeeping of user passwords. Strong password storage security ensures that even if an attacker has access to compromised data, they are unable to utilize the passwords in attack vectors like credential-stuffing assaults. Additionally, it will reduce the risk of threats like fraudulent account charges or account takeovers for users. This study compares the performance of several hashing algorithms, including Bcrypt, SHA-256 and MD5 and how bcrypt algorithm outperforms the other algorithms. Reversal of each of the results will be attempted using Rainbow Tables for better understanding of hash reversals and the comparisons are tabulated. The paper provides a detail implementation of bcrypt algorithm and sheds light on the methodology of BCRYPT hashing algorithm results in robust password security. While SHA-256 hashing algorithms are, easily susceptible to simple attacks such as brute force as it a fast algorithm and making bcrypt more favorable.
Analysing keystroke dynamics using wavelet transforms. 2022 IEEE International Carnahan Conference on Security Technology (ICCST). :1–5.
.
2022. Many smartphones are lost every year, with a meager percentage recovered. In many cases, users with malicious intent access these phones and use them to acquire sensitive data. There is a need for continuous monitoring and surveillance in smartphones, and keystroke dynamics play an essential role in identifying whether a phone is being used by its owner or an impersonator. Also, there is a growing need to replace expensive 2-tier authentication methods like One-time passwords (OTP) with cheaper and more robust methods. The methods proposed in this paper are applied to existing data and are proven to train more robust classifiers. A novel feature extraction method by wavelet transformation is demonstrated to convert keystroke data into features. The comparative study of classifiers trained on the extracted features vs. features extracted by existing methods shows that the processes proposed perform better than the state-of-art feature extraction methods.

Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and SQL Injection Attacks Multi-classification Using Bidirectional LSTM Recurrent Neural Network. 2021 IEEE International Conference on Progress in Informatics and Computing (PIC). :358–363.
.
2021. E-commerce, ticket booking, banking, and other web-based applications that deal with sensitive information, such as passwords, payment information, and financial information, are widespread. Some web developers may have different levels of understanding about securing an online application. The two vulnerabilities identified by the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) for its 2017 Top Ten List are SQL injection and Cross-site Scripting (XSS). Because of these two vulnerabilities, an attacker can take advantage of these flaws and launch harmful web-based actions. Many published articles concentrated on a binary classification for these attacks. This article developed a new approach for detecting SQL injection and XSS attacks using deep learning. SQL injection and XSS payloads datasets are combined into a single dataset. The word-embedding technique is utilized to convert the word’s text into a vector. Our model used BiLSTM to auto feature extraction, training, and testing the payloads dataset. BiLSTM classified the payloads into three classes: XSS, SQL injection attacks, and normal. The results showed great results in classifying payloads into three classes: XSS attacks, injection attacks, and non-malicious payloads. BiLSTM showed high performance reached 99.26% in terms of accuracy.
Information Security Assessment On Court Tracking Information System: A Case Study from Mataram District Court. 2021 IEEE 12th Annual Ubiquitous Computing, Electronics Mobile Communication Conference (UEMCON). :0226–0230.
.
2021. The Government of Indonesia has implemented an Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE) to provide fast and unlimited services by distance, space, and time. The Case Investigation Information System (SIPP) is a service for the public that requires good integration of information so that legal services are provided quickly and easily. In 2020 court websites experienced many hacker attacks based on data from internal court sources, at least there were more than 20 courts throughout Indonesia that were affected by damage to both the website, the SIPP web feature, and the court library featured. Based on the Minister of Communication and Informatics Regulation No. 4 of 2016 in article 7, every SPBE organizer must implement information security following the information security standards described by the Ministry of Communication and Information. Since this regulation is conceived to minimize the risk of the security breach on SPBE, and there is such numerous security breach in 2020 therefore this indicates poorly implemented of the regulation. Based on this finding this research aims to investigate which area is neglected. To achieve this, this research employs gap analysis using ISO/IEC 27001:2013and maturity level to reveal the neglected areas in information security. Current findings show there are SIPP users that still use weak passwords and lack of awareness of top management personnel in several information security areas such as securing sensitive documents or policies that regulate information security specifically for SIPP. These findings entails that the security management in Court is most likely at the initiative level.
