The discussion about forward error correction (FEC) used for 800G unamplified link (800LR) is ongoing. Aiming at two potential options for FEC bit error ratio (BER) threshold, we propose two FEC schemes, respectively based on channel-polarized (CP) multilevel coding (MLC) and bit interleaved coded modulation (BICM), with the same inner FEC code. The field-programmable gate array (FPGA) verification results indicate that with the same FEC overhead (OH), proposed CP-MLC outperforms BICM scheme with less resource and power consumption.

Cui, H., Liu, C., Hong, X., Wu, J., Sun, D..  2020.  An Improved BICM-ID Receiver for the Time-Varying Underwater Acoustic Communications with DDPSK Modulation. 2020 IEEE International Conference on Signal Processing, Communications and Computing (ICSPCC). :1—4.
Double differential phase shift keying(DDPSK) modulation is an efficient method to compensate the Doppler shifts, whereas the phase noise will be amplified which results in the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) loss. In this paper, we propose a novel receiver architecture for underwater acoustic DSSS communications with Doppler shifts. The proposed method adopts not only the DDPSK modulation to compensate the Doppler shifts, but also the improved bit-interleaved coded modulation with iterative decoding (BICM-ID) algorithm for DDPSK to recover the SNR loss. The improved DDPSK demodulator adopts the multi-symbol estimation to track the channel variation, and an extended trellis diagram is constructed for DDPSK demodulator. Theoretical simulation shows that our system can obtain around 10.2 dB gain over the uncoded performance, and 7.4 dB gain over the hard-decision decoding performance. Besides, the experiment conducted in the Songhua Lake also shows that the proposed receiver can achieve lower BER performance when Doppler shifts exists.

Marquer, Y., Richmond, T..  2020.  A Hole in the Ladder : Interleaved Variables in Iterative Conditional Branching. 2020 IEEE 27th Symposium on Computer Arithmetic (ARITH). :56–63.
The modular exponentiation is crucial to the RSA cryptographic protocol, and variants inspired by the Montgomery ladder have been studied to provide more secure algorithms. In this paper, we abstract away the iterative conditional branching used in the Montgomery ladder, and formalize systems of equations necessary to obtain what we call the semi-interleaved and fully-interleaved ladder properties. In particular, we design fault-injection attacks able to obtain bits of the secret against semi-interleaved ladders, including the Montgomery ladder, but not against fully-interleaved ladders that are more secure. We also apply these equations to extend the Montgomery ladder for both the semi- and fully-interleaved cases, thus proposing novel and more secure algorithms to compute the modular exponentiation.

In recent years, the demand for high reliability in industrial wireless communication has been increasing. To meet the strict requirement, many researchers have studied various bit interleaving coding schemes for long packet transmission in industrial wireless networks. Current research shows that the use of bit interleaving structure can improve the performance of the communication system for long packet transmission, but to improve reliability of industrial wireless communications by combining the bit interleaving and channel coding for short packets still requires further analysis. With this aim, bit interleaving structure is applied to convolution code coding scheme for short packet transmission in this paper. We prove that the use of interleaver fail to improve the reliability of data transmission under the circumstance of short packet transmission.

In this paper, we investigate the performance of multiple-input multiple-output aided coded interleave division multiple access (IDMA) system for secured medical image transmission through wireless communication. We realize the MIMO profile using four transmit antennas at the base station and three receive antennas at the mobile station. We achieve bandwidth efficiency using discrete wavelet transform (DWT). Further we implement Arnold's Cat Map (ACM) encryption algorithm for secured medical transmission. We consider celulas as medical image which is used to differentiate between normal cell and carcinogenic cell. In order to accommodate more users' image, we consider IDMA as accessing scheme. At the mobile station (MS), we employ non-linear minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection algorithm to alleviate the effects of unwanted multiple users image information and multi-stream interference (MSI) in the context of downlink transmission. In particular, we investigate the effects of three types of delay-spread distributions pertaining to Stanford university interim (SUI) channel models for encrypted image transmission of MIMO-IDMA system. From our computer simulation, we reveal that DWT based coded MIMO- IDMA system with ACM provides superior picture quality in the context of DL communication while offering higher spectral efficiency and security.
