The construction of a strong and smart grid is inseparable from the advancement of the power system, and the effective application of modern communication technologies allows the traditional grid to better transform into the energy Internet. With the advent of 5G, people pay close attention to the application of network slicing, not only as an emerging technology, but also as a new business model. In this article, we consider the delay requirements of certain services in the power grid. First, we analyze the security issues in network slicing and model the 5G core network slicing supply as a mixed integer linear programming problem. On this basis, a heuristic algorithm is proposed. According to the topological properties, resource utilization and delay of the slice nodes, the importance of them is sorted using the VIKOR method. In the slice link configuration stage, the shortest path algorithm is used to obtain the slice link physical path. Considering the delay of the slice link, a strategy for selecting the physical path is proposed. Simulations show that the scheme and algorithm proposed in this paper can achieve a high slice configuration success rate while ensuring the end-to-end delay requirements of the business, and meet the 5G core network slice security requirements.

Software Defined Networking (SDN) is an innovative technology, which can be applied in a plethora of applications and areas. Recently, SDN has been identified as one of the most promising solutions for industrial applications as well. The key features of SDN include the decoupling of the control plane from the data plane and the programmability of the network through application development. Researchers are looking at these features in order to enhance the Quality of Service (QoS) provisioning of modern network applications. To this end, the following work presents the development of an SDN application, capable of mitigating attacks and maximizing the network’s QoS, by implementing mixed integer linear programming but also using genetic algorithms. Furthermore, a low-cost, physical SDN testbed was developed in order to evaluate the aforementioned application in a more realistic environment other than only using simulation tools.

This paper introduces combined data integrity and availability attacks to expand the attack scenarios against power system state estimation. The goal of the adversary, who uses the combined attack, is to perturb the state estimates while remaining hidden from the observer. We propose security metrics that quantify vulnerability of power grids to combined data attacks under single and multi-path routing communication models. In order to evaluate the proposed security metrics, we formulate them as mixed integer linear programming (MILP) problems. The relation between the security metrics of combined data attacks and pure data integrity attacks is analyzed, based on which we show that, when data availability and data integrity attacks have the same cost, the two metrics coincide. When data availability attacks have a lower cost than data integrity attacks, we show that a combined data attack could be executed with less attack resources compared to pure data integrity attacks. Furthermore, it is shown that combined data attacks would bypass integrity-focused mitigation schemes. These conclusions are supported by the results obtained on a power system model with and without a communication model with single or multi-path routing.
