Lu, Dongzhe, Fei, Jinlong, Liu, Long, Li, Zecun.  2022.  A GAN-based Method for Generating SQL Injection Attack Samples. 2022 IEEE 10th Joint International Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence Conference (ITAIC). 10:1827–1833.
Due to the simplicity of implementation and high threat level, SQL injection attacks are one of the oldest, most prevalent, and most destructive types of security attacks on Web-based information systems. With the continuous development and maturity of artificial intelligence technology, it has been a general trend to use AI technology to detect SQL injection. The selection of the sample set is the deciding factor of whether AI algorithms can achieve good results, but dataset with tagged specific category labels are difficult to obtain. This paper focuses on data augmentation to learn similar feature representations from the original data to improve the accuracy of classification models. In this paper, deep convolutional generative adversarial networks combined with genetic algorithms are applied to the field of Web vulnerability attacks, aiming to solve the problem of insufficient number of SQL injection samples. This method is also expected to be applied to sample generation for other types of vulnerability attacks.

Chen, Haibo, Chen, Junzuo, Chen, Jinfu, Yin, Shang, Wu, Yiming, Xu, Jiaping.  2020.  An Automatic Vulnerability Scanner for Web Applications. 2020 IEEE 19th International Conference on Trust, Security and Privacy in Computing and Communications (TrustCom). :1519–1524.
With the progressive development of web applications and the urgent requirement of web security, vulnerability scanner has been particularly emphasized, which is regarded as a fundamental component for web security assurance. Various scanners are developed with the intention of that discovering the possible vulnerabilities in advance to avoid malicious attacks. However, most of them only focus on the vulnerability detection with single target, which fail in satisfying the efficiency demand of users. In this paper, an effective web vulnerability scanner that integrates the information collection with the vulnerability detection is proposed to verify whether the target web application is vulnerable or not. The experimental results show that, by guiding the detection process with the useful collected information, our tool achieves great web vulnerability detection capability with a large scanning scope.

Attacks against websites are increasing rapidly with the expansion of web services. An increasing number of diversified web services make it difficult to prevent such attacks due to many known vulnerabilities in websites. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to collect the most recent attacks using decoy web honeypots and to implement countermeasures against malicious threats. Web honeypots collect not only malicious accesses by attackers but also benign accesses such as those by web search crawlers. Thus, it is essential to develop a means of automatically identifying malicious accesses from mixed collected data including both malicious and benign accesses. Specifically, detecting vulnerability scanning, which is a preliminary process, is important for preventing attacks. In this study, we focused on classification of accesses for web crawling and vulnerability scanning since these accesses are too similar to be identified. We propose a feature vector including features of collective accesses, e.g., intervals of request arrivals and the dispersion of source port numbers, obtained with multiple honeypots deployed in different networks for classification. Through evaluation using data collected from 37 honeypots in a real network, we show that features of collective accesses are advantageous for vulnerability scanning and crawler classification.
