The prevalence of photo processing apps suggests the demands of picture editing. As an implementation of the convolutional neural network, style transfer has been deep investigated and there are supported materials to realize it on PC platform. However, few approaches are mentioned to deploy a style transfer model on the mobile and meet the requirements of mobile users. The traditional style transfer model takes hours to proceed, therefore, based on a Perceptual Losses algorithm [1], we created a feedforward neural network for each style and the proceeding time was reduced to a few seconds. The training data were generated from a pre-trained convolutional neural network model, VGG-19. The algorithm took thousandth time and generated similar output as the original. Furthermore, we optimized the model and deployed the model with TensorFlow Mobile library. We froze the model and adopted a bitmap to scale the inputs to 720×720 and reverted back to the original resolution. The reverting process may create some blur but it can be regarded as a feature of art. The generated images have reliable quality and the waiting time is independent of the content and pattern of input images. The main factor that influences the proceeding time is the input resolution. The average waiting time of our model on the mobile phone, HUAWEI P20 Pro, is less than 2 seconds for 720p images and around 2.8 seconds for 1080p images, which are ten times slower than that on the PC GPU, Tesla T40. The performance difference depends on the architecture of the model.

The paper presents the results of load testing of embedded hardware platforms for Internet of Things solutions. Analyzed the available hardware. The operating systems from different manufacturers were consolidated into a single classification, and for the two most popular, load testing was performed by an external and internal wireless network adapter. Developed its own software solution based on the Python programming language. The number of wireless subscribers ranged from 7 to 14. Experimental results will be useful in deploying wireless infrastructure for small commercial and scientific wireless networks.

P..  2017.  Intelligent System for Automatic Performance Evaluation of Distribution System Operators. 2017 19th International Conference on Intelligent System Application to Power Systems (ISAP). :1–6.
The performance evaluation of distribution network operators is essential for the electrical utilities to know how prepared the operators are to execute their operation standards and rules, searching for minimizing the time of power outage, after some contingency. The performance of operators can be evaluated by the impact of their actions on several technical and economic indicators of the distribution system. This issue is a complex problem, whose solution involves necessarily some expertise and a multi-criteria evaluation. This paper presents a Tutorial Expert System (TES) for performance evaluation of electrical distribution network operators after a given contingency in the electrical network. The proposed TES guides the evaluation process, taking into account technical, economic and personal criteria, aiding the quantification of these criteria. A case study based on real data demonstrates the applicability of the performance evaluation procedure of distribution network operators.

Miller, J. A., Peng, H., Cotterell, M. E..  2017.  Adding Support for Theory in Open Science Big Data. 2017 IEEE World Congress on Services (SERVICES). :71–75.

Open Science Big Data is emerging as an important area of research and software development. Although there are several high quality frameworks for Big Data, additional capabilities are needed for Open Science Big Data. These include data provenance, citable reusable data, data sources providing links to research literature, relationships to other data and theories, transparent analysis/reproducibility, data privacy, new optimizations/advanced algorithms, data curation, data storage and transfer. An important part of science is explanation of results, ideally leading to theory formation. In this paper, we examine means for supporting the use of theory in big data analytics as well as using big data to assist in theory formation. One approach is to fit data in a way that is compatible with some theory, existing or new. Functional Data Analysis allows precise fitting of data as well as penalties for lack of smoothness or even departure from theoretical expectations. This paper discusses principal differential analysis and related techniques for fitting data where, for example, a time-based process is governed by an ordinary differential equation. Automation in theory formation is also considered. Case studies in the fields of computational economics and finance are considered.
