Securing Robots: An Integrated Approach for Security Challenges and Monitoring for the Robotic Operating System (ROS). 2021 IFIP/IEEE International Symposium on Integrated Network Management (IM). :754—759.
.
2021. Robotic systems are becoming an ever-increasing part of everyday life due to their capacity to carry out physical tasks on behalf of human beings. Found in nearly every facet of our lives, robotic systems are used domestically, in small and large-scale factories, for the production and processing of agriculture, for military operations, to name a few. The Robotic Operating System (ROS) is the standard operating system used today for the development of modular robotic systems. However, in its development, ROS has been notorious for the absence of security mechanisms, placing people in danger both physically and digitally. This dissertation summary presents the development of a suite of ROS tools, leading up to the development of a modular, secure framework for ROS. An integrated approach for the security of ROS-enabled robotic systems is described, to set a baseline for the continual development to increase ROS security. The work culminates in the ROS security tool ROS-Immunity, combining internal system defense, external system verification, and automated vulnerability detection in an integrated tool that, in conjunction with Secure-ROS, provides a suite of defenses for ROS systems against malicious attackers.
An Integrated Safety Management System Based on Ubiquitous Internet of Things in Electricity for Smart Pumped-storage Power Stations. 2019 4th International Conference on Intelligent Green Building and Smart Grid (IGBSG). :548–551.
.
2019. The safety management is an important and fundamental task in the construction and operation of pumped-storage power stations. However, because of the traditional technical framework, the relevant systems are separated from each other, leading to a lot of disadvantages in application and performance. In order to meet the requirements of smart pumped-storage power stations, an integrated safety management system (ISMS) based on ubiquitous internet of things in electricity is proposed in this paper. The ISMS is divided into five layers including data display layer, data manipulation layer, data processing layer, data transmission layer and data acquisition layer. It consists of six modules, i.e., central control module, cave access control and personnel location module, video and security monitoring module, emergency broadcasting and communication module, geological warning module, and fall protection module. All modules are integrated into a unified information platform.
Securing Big Data in the Cloud with Integrated Auditing. 2017 IEEE International Conference on Smart Cloud (SmartCloud). :126–131.
.
2017. In this paper, we review big data characteristics and security challenges in the cloud and visit different cloud domains and security regulations. We propose using integrated auditing for secure data storage and transaction logs, real-time compliance and security monitoring, regulatory compliance, data environment, identity and access management, infrastructure auditing, availability, privacy, legality, cyber threats, and granular auditing to achieve big data security. We apply a stochastic process model to conduct security analyses in availability and mean time to security failure. Potential future works are also discussed.
