A key question for characterising a system's vulnerability against timing attacks is whether or not it allows an adversary to aggregate information about a secret over multiple timing measurements. Existing approaches for reasoning about this aggregate information rely on strong assumptions about the capabilities of the adversary in terms of measurement and computation, which is why they fall short in modelling, explaining, or synthesising real-world attacks against cryptosystems such as RSA or AES. In this paper we present a novel model for reasoning about information aggregation in timing attacks. The model is based on a novel abstraction of timing measurements that better captures the capabilities of real-world adversaries, and a notion of compositionality of programs that explains attacks by divide-and-conquer. Our model thus lifts important limiting assumptions made in prior work and enables us to give the first uniform explanation of high-profile timing attacks in the language of information-flow analysis.
In the computer based solutions of the problems in today's world; if the problem has a high complexity value, different requirements can be addressed such as necessity of simultaneous operation of many computers, the long processing times for the operation of algorithms, and computers with hardware features that can provide high performance. For this reason, it is inevitable to use a computer based on quantum physics in the near future in order to make today's cryptosystems unsafe, search the servers and other information storage centers on internet very quickly, solve optimization problems in the NP-hard category with a very wide solution space and analyze information on large-scale data processing and to process high-resolution image for artificial intelligence applications. In this study, an examination of quantum approaches and quantum computers, which will be widely used in the near future, was carried out and the areas in which such innovation can be used was evaluated. Malicious or non-malicious use of quantum computers with this capacity, the advantages and disadvantages of the high performance which it provides were examined under the head of security, the effect of this recent technology on the existing security systems was investigated.
With the ever increasing growth of internet usage, ensuring high security for information has gained great importance, due to the several threats in the communication channels. Hence there is continuous research towards finding a suitable approach to ensure high security for the information. In recent decades, cryptography is being used extensively for providing security on the Internet although primarily used in the military and diplomatic communities. One such approach is the application of Chaos theory in cryptosystems. In this work, we have proposed the usage of combined multiple recursive generator (CMRG) for KEY generation based on a chaotic function to generate different multiple keys. It is seen that negligible difference in parameters of chaotic function generates completely different keys as well as cipher text. The main motive for developing the chaos based cryptosystem is to attain encryption that provides high security at comparatively higher speed but with lower complexity and cost over the conventional encryption algorithms.
Recently, the chaotic public-key cryptography attracts much attention of researchers, due to the great characters of chaotic maps. With the security superiorities and computation efficiencies of chaotic map over other cryptosystems, in this paper, a novel Identity-based signcryption scheme is proposed using extended chaotic maps. The difficulty of chaos-based discrete logarithm (CDL) problem lies the foundation of the security of proposed ECM-IBSC scheme.
Security of the information is the main problem in network communications nowadays. There is no algorithm which ensures the one hundred percent reliability of the transmissions. The current society uses the Internet, to exchange information such as from private images to financial data. The cryptographic systems are the mechanisms developed to protect and hide the information from intruders. However, advancing technology is also used by intruders to breach the security of the systems. Hence, every time cryptosystems developed based on complex Mathematics. Elliptic curve cryptography(ECC) is one of the technique in such kind of cryptosystems. Security of the elliptic curves lies in hardness of solving the discrete logarithms problems. In this research, a new cryptographic system is built by using the elliptic curve cryptography based on square matrices to achieve a secure communication between two parties. First, an invertible matrix is chosen arbitrarily in the the field used in the system. Then, by using the Cayley Hamilton theorem, private key matrices are generated for both parties. Next, public key vectors of the both parties are generated by using the private keys of them and arbitrary points of the given elliptic curve. Diffie Hellman protocol is used to authenticate the key exchange. ElGamal plus Menezes Qu Vanstone encryption protocols are used to encrypt the messages. MATLAB R2015a is used to implement and test the proper functioning of the built cryptosystem.
Mobile ad hoc networks have the features of open medium, dynamic topology, cooperative algorithms, lack of centralized monitoring etc. Due to these, mobile ad hoc networks are much vulnerable to security attacks when compared to wired networks. There are various routing protocols that have been developed to cope up with the limitations imposed by the ad hoc networks. But none of these routing schemes provide complete unlinkability and unobservability. In this paper we have done a survey about anonymous routing and secure communications in mobile ad hoc networks. Different routing protocols are analyzed based on public/private key pairs and cryptosystems, within that USOR can well protect user privacy against both inside and outside attackers. It is a combination of group signature scheme and ID based encryption scheme. These are run during the route discovery process. We implement USOR on ns2, and then its performance is compared with AODV.
