Stochastic computing is based on probability concepts which are different from conventional mathematical operations. Advantages of stochastic computing in the fields of neural networks and digital image processing have been reported in literature recently. Arithmetic operations especially multiplications can be performed either by logical AND gates in unipolar format or by EXNOR gates in bipolar format in stochastic computation. Stochastic computing is inherently fault-tolerant and requires fewer logic gates to implement arithmetic operations. Long computing time and low accuracy are the main drawbacks of this system. In this presentation, to reduce hardware requirement and delay, modified stochastic multiplication using AND gate array and multiplexer are used for the design of Finite Impulse Response Filter cores. Performance parameters such as area, power and delay for FIR filter using modified stochastic computing methods are compared with conventional floating point computation.

In this work, an IF(intermediate frequency) module of a hyperspectral microwave radiometer based on a polyphase filter bank (PFB) and Discrete Fourier Transformation (DFT)is introduced. The IF module is designed with an 800MSPS sampling-rate ADC and a Xilinx Virtex-7 FPGA. The module can achieve 512 channels and a bandwidth of 400M and process all the sampled data in real-time. The test results of this module are given and analyzed, such as linearity, accuracy, etc. It can be used in various applications of microwave remote sensing. The system has strong expandability.

Wang, C., He, M..  2018.  Image Style Transfer with Multi-target Loss for loT Applications. 2018 15th International Symposium on Pervasive Systems, Algorithms and Networks (I-SPAN). :296–299.

Transferring the style of an image is a fundamental problem in computer vision. Which extracts the features of a context image and a style image, then fixes them to produce a new image with features of the both two input images. In this paper, we introduce an artificial system to separate and recombine the content and style of arbitrary images, providing a neural algorithm for the creation of artistic images. We use a pre-trained deep convolutional neural network VGG19 to extract the feature map of the input style image and context image. Then we define a loss function that captures the difference between the output image and the two input images. We use the gradient descent algorithm to update the output image to minimize the loss function. Experiment results show the feasibility of the method.
