As the demand for effective information protection grows, security has become the primary concern in protecting such data from attackers. Cryptography is one of the methods for safeguarding such information. It is a method of storing and distributing data in a specific format that can only be read and processed by the intended recipient. It offers a variety of security services like integrity, authentication, confidentiality and non-repudiation, Malicious. Confidentiality service is required for preventing disclosure of information to unauthorized parties. In this paper, there are no ideal hash functions that dwell in digital signature concepts is proved.

The popularity of cryptocurrencies has garnered interest from cybercriminals, spurring an onslaught of cryptojacking campaigns that aim to hijack computational resources for the purpose of mining cryptocurrencies. In this paper, we present a cross-stack cryptojacking defense system that spans the hardware and OS layers. Unlike prior work that is confined to detecting cryptojacking behavior within web browsers, our solution is application agnostic. We show that tracking instructions that are frequently used in cryptographic hash functions serve as reliable signatures for fingerprinting cryptojacking activity. We demonstrate that our solution is resilient to multi-threaded and throttling evasion techniques that are commonly employed by cryptojacking malware. We characterize the robustness of our solution by extensively testing a diverse set of workloads that include real consumer applications. Finally, an evaluation of our proof-of-concept implementation shows minimal performance impact while running a mix of benchmark applications.

Gupta, Deena Nath, Kumar, Rajendra.  2021.  Sponge based Lightweight Cryptographic Hash Functions for IoT Applications. 2021 International Conference on Intelligent Technologies (CONIT). :1–5.
Hash constructions are used in cryptographic algorithms from very long. Features of Hashes that gives the applications the confidence to use them in security methodologies is “forward secrecy” Forward secrecy comes from one-way hash functions. Examples of earlier hash designs include SHA-3, MD-5, SHA-I, and MAME. Each of these is having their proven record to produce the security for the communication between unconstrained devices. However, this is the era of Internet of Things (IoT) and the requirement of lightweight hash designs are the need of hour. IoT mainly consists of constrained devices. The devices in IoT are having many constrained related to battery power, storage and transmission range. Enabling any security feature in the constrained devices is troublesome. Constrained devices under an IoT environment can work only with less complex and lightweight algorithms. Lightweight algorithms take less power to operate and save a lot of energy of the battery operated devices. SPONGENT, QUARK, HASH-ONE, PHOTON, are some of the well-known lightweight hash designs currently providing security to the IoT devices. In this paper, the authors will present an analysis of the functioning of different lightweight hash designs as well as their suitability to the IoT environment.

Rajeshwaran, Kartik, Anil Kumar, Kakelli.  2019.  Cellular Automata Based Hashing Algorithm (CABHA) for Strong Cryptographic Hash Function. 2019 IEEE International Conference on Electrical, Computer and Communication Technologies (ICECCT). :1–6.
Cryptographic hash functions play a crucial role in information security. Cryptographic hash functions are used in various cryptographic applications to verify the message authenticity and integrity. In this paper we propose a Cellular Automata Based Hashing Algorithm (CABHA) for generating strong cryptographic hash function. The proposed CABHA algorithm uses the cellular automata rules and a custom transformation function to create a strong hash from an input message and a key.

Zollner, Stephan, Choo, Kim-Kwang Raymond, Le-Khac, Nhien-An.  2019.  An Automated Live Forensic and Postmortem Analysis Tool for Bitcoin on Windows Systems. IEEE Access. 7:158250—158263.

Bitcoin is popular not only with consumers, but also with cybercriminals (e.g., in ransomware and online extortion, and commercial online child exploitation). Given the potential of Bitcoin to be involved in a criminal investigation, the need to have an up-to-date and in-depth understanding on the forensic acquisition and analysis of Bitcoins is crucial. However, there has been limited forensic research of Bitcoin in the literature. The general focus of existing research is on postmortem analysis of specific locations (e.g. wallets on mobile devices), rather than a forensic approach that combines live data forensics and postmortem analysis to facilitate the identification, acquisition, and analysis of forensic traces relating to the use of Bitcoins on a system. Hence, the latter is the focus of this paper where we present an open source tool for live forensic and postmortem analysing automatically. Using this open source tool, we describe a list of target artifacts that can be obtained from a forensic investigation of popular Bitcoin clients and Web Wallets on different web browsers installed on Windows 7 and Windows 10 platforms.

Hirose, Shoichi, Shikata, Junji.  2019.  Provable Security of the Ma-Tsudik Forward-Secure Sequential Aggregate MAC Scheme. 2019 Seventh International Symposium on Computing and Networking Workshops (CANDARW). :327—332.
Considering application to communication among wireless sensors, Ma and Tsudik introduced the notion of forward-secure sequential aggregate (FssAgg) authentication in 2007. They also proposed an FssAgg MAC scheme composed of a MAC function and cryptographic hash functions at the same time. The security of their proposed scheme has not been analyzed yet and remains open. It is shown in this paper that a slight variant of the Ma-Tsudik FssAgg MAC scheme is secure under reasonable and standard assumptions on security of the underlying primitives. An efficient instantiation of the underlying MAC function using a cryptographic hash function is also discussed.

Chum, Chi Sing, Zhang, Xiaowen.  2017.  A New Bloom Filter Structure for Searchable Encryption Schemes. Proceedings of the Seventh ACM on Conference on Data and Application Security and Privacy. :143–145.
We propose a new Bloom filter structure for searchable encryption schemes in which a large Bloom filter is treated as (replaced with) two smaller ones for the search index. False positive is one inherent drawback of Bloom filter. We formulate the false positive rates for one regular large Bloom filter, and then derive the false positive rate for the two smaller ones. With examples, we show how the new scheme cuts down the false positive rate and the size of Bloom filter to a balanced point that fulfills the user requirements and increases the efficiency of the structure.

Kishore, N., Kapoor, B..  2014.  An efficient parallel algorithm for hash computation in security and forensics applications. Advance Computing Conference (IACC), 2014 IEEE International. :873-877.

Hashing algorithms are used extensively in information security and digital forensics applications. This paper presents an efficient parallel algorithm hash computation. It's a modification of the SHA-1 algorithm for faster parallel implementation in applications such as the digital signature and data preservation in digital forensics. The algorithm implements recursive hash to break the chain dependencies of the standard hash function. We discuss the theoretical foundation for the work including the collision probability and the performance implications. The algorithm is implemented using the OpenMP API and experiments performed using machines with multicore processors. The results show a performance gain by more than a factor of 3 when running on the 8-core configuration of the machine.
