Visible to the public Managing Loosely Coupled Networked Control Systems with External Disturbances

Abstract:

One of the urgent tasks for wastewater reclamation plants (WRPs) is to develop a cost effective infrastructure upon the existing facilities to meet the new regulations on the concentration of total ammonia nitrogen required by USEPA by 2014.

Visible to the public Flow-based Cyber Physical Systems

Abstract:

Monitoring flow-based systems (FBS) (e.g., water distribution systems) is of paramount importance, due to their economic and health impacts. FBS monitoring has been typically achieved by strategically placed, costly and complex, static sensors. To reduce the cost of monitoring, we propose a mobile wireless sensor network (WSN) system comprised of mobile sensors (their movement aided by the inherent flow) and static beacons which aid locating sensors.

Visible to the public Domain-Specific Modeling

Abstract:

The objective of this research is an injection of new modeling techniques into the area of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs). The approach is to design new architectures for domain- specific modeling tools in order to permit feedback from analysis, validation, and verification engines to influence how CPSs are designed. This project outlines new research into the integration of existing, heterogeneous modeling languages in order to address problems in CPS design, rather than a single language used to design any CPS.

Visible to the public FORCES Overview - Shankar Sastry

Abstract:

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) are being increasingly deployed in critical infrastructures such as electric- power, water, transportation, and other networks. These deployments are facilitating real-time monitoring and control by exploiting the advances in wireless sensor-actuator networks, the internet of "everything", data-driven analytics, and machine-to-machine interfaces. CPS operations depend on the synergy of com- putational and physical components. In addition, in many cases, CPS also interact with human decision makers.
