AbstractNetwork Functions Virtualization (NFV) enables network operators to develop and deploy services to the market in a flexible and timely manner which has never been achieved before. Though NFV has revolutionized the telco industry with many advantages of virtualization technologies, there are challenges need to be taken into account especially the fault recovery. Current implementation of NFV systems offers limited self-healing features such as ping for health check and the recovery procedure is expensive by taking down the whole virtual machine and replacing with a new one. This article proposes a new self-healing mechanism for NFV by leveraging the resource information indexing technique.
