Summary of Past SCOPE Workshops:

The motivation for this workshop stems from the significant interest in this realm, and observing the increased participation of teams participating in the Global City Teams Challenge. The Global City Teams Challenge (GCTC), an initiative by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), part of US Department of Commerce, is designed to advance the incubation and deployment of CPS and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies within a smart city environment in cities around the world. The FY15 and 16 rounds of GCTC were highly successful with 150+ teams of more than 160 cities and over 350 companies and universities participating in smart city technology deployments in areas ranging from disaster resilience, to air quality, transportation management, health care, energy efficiency and more. FY17 GCTC Expo was held in summer 2017 in the US.
