Is the program going to be in-person or virtual?

We anticipate being an in-person program for Summer 2023.

How long will the program run?

The program typcially runs for 10 weeks with a start date sometime in late May or early June.

Is there housing available and how much will it cost?

The program does not offer on-campus housing. Please visit the links below for details about housing options.

How will I be paid?

Payments are distributed bi-weekly via direct deposit. If you are a VUSE student, payments will be distributed monthly via direct deposit.

Can I take a vacation?

Yes, with approval from your supervisor. The general policy for any vacation time taken this year is that, you will not get paid for the days missed. Please also email Gerilynn Pearce at gerilynn.pearce@vanderbilt.edu to let her know you are doing this, and to make her aware of any extenuating circumstances regarding time off.

Is the program binding? Am I required to participate if I am selected for the program?

Once an award offer has been made, the students are given a window of time to accept or decline. This time is meant to give students the opportunity to weigh all options that may be available to them for the summer.

I've been accepted, what are the next steps?

If accepted, all interns will be sent and asked to complete the intake webform by 11:59pm on Friday, April 7th.    

Are applications from international students accepted?

Yes. However, this year we can only accommodate students who will be physically present in the U.S. for the duration of the internship program, regardless of citizenship status.

I'm an international student who has never worked in the U.S. before; how do I obtain a SSN (Social Security Number)?

I am from another University, am I eligible to apply?

Yes.

When is the last day to complete the application?

March 3rd, 2023 is the last day for applicants to be reviewed. We are not accepting any further applicants after that date. If you miss the deadline and are interested in future opportunities with VU-ISIS, please sign up to join our mailing list here.

When will appilcation decisions be made?

All applicants who applied within the given deadline will be reviewed and given a decision no later than March 24th, 2023.
