Introduction

"The 20th International Symposium on Research in Attacks, Intrusions and Defenses (RAID 2017), previously known as Recent Advances in Intrusion Detection, aims at bringing together leading researchers and practitioners from academia, government, and industry to discuss novel research contributions related to computer and information security. "

The Computer Security Foundations Symposium (CSF) is an annual conference for researchers in computer security, to examine current theories of security, the formal models that provide a context for those theories, and techniques for verifying security. It was created in 1988 as a workshop of the IEEE Computer Society's Technical Committee on Security and Privacy, in response to a 1986 essay by Don Good entitled "The Foundations of Computer Security--We Need Some." The meeting became a "symposium" in 2007, along with a policy for open, increased attendance.

The 26th USENIX Security Symposium was held in Vancouver, B.C., Canada on August 16-18, 2017.

The annual Privacy Enhancing Technologies Symposium (PETS) brings together privacy experts from around the world to discuss recent advances and new perspectives on research in privacy technologies. PETS addresses the design and realization of privacy services for the Internet and other digital systems and communication networks.

The IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN) is the most prestigious international forum for presenting advanced and innovative research results, problem solutions, practices, insights on new challenges in the field of dependable computing and security. The whole spectrum of IT systems and application areas with stringent relevant dependability and security concerns are of interest to DSN.

The 2017 IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy was held in San Jose, California on May 22-24. The 2017 Symposium marked the 38th annual meeting of this flagship conference. Since 1980, the IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy has been the premier forum for presenting developments in computer security and electronic privacy, and for bringing together researchers and practitioners in the field.

WISE was the first workshop that advocates for women in the field of hardware and systems security (HSS). This workshop, collocated with HOST 2017, was composed of three main themes: 1) experience sharing and visionary view from female role models, 2) discussing research/work/life challenges faced by female students in HSS, 3) exchanging research ideas and prompting potential collaborations. We encouraged all women related to the field of HSS and those who were willing to support women in HSS to join this workshop and help grow female workforce in HSS.

Eurocrypt 2017 was the 36th Annual International Conference on the Theory and Applications of Cryptographic Techniques. It was devoted to all aspects of cryptology. Eurocrypt 2017 was one of the three flagship conferences of the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR), and was organized by the Crypto Group at ENS Paris. EUROCRYPT 2017 was held on April 30 - May 4, 2017 in Paris, France.

This workshop aimed to showcase new and emerging strategies and technologies for forecasting, mitigating, countering, and attributing cyber-events that threaten security and privacy within the realm of IoT. Additionally, we invited arguments for innovative and off-the-wall solutions that have sound academic backing. The institutional benefits of IoT adoption were clear, however security and privacy concerns are constantly coming to light.
