Announcing a Special Section in IEEE Access : Smart Cities
Submission Deadline: December 1, 2015
IEEE Access invites manuscript submissions in the area of Smart Cities.
Motivated by growing global needs to create more comfortable urban spaces as world urbanization continues to grow as the global population is expected to double by 2050, Smart Cities are emerging as a priority for research and development across the world. Smart cities open up significant opportunities in several areas, such as economic growth, health, wellness, energy efficiency, and transportation, to promote the sustainable development of cities. However, smart cities pose many research challenges spanning multiple disciplines.
Fundamental research is needed to achieve effective integration of networked computing systems, physical devices, data sources, and infrastructure to have a major impact on quality of life within the city.
The objective of this Special Section in IEEE Access is to collect articles on the state of the art and practices of smart cities. In parti cular, we are soliciting theoretical and applied research in smart cities from academia, industry and government
Possible topics include but are not limited to:
- Smart city theory, modeling and simulation
- Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) and smart cities
- Internet of Things (IoT) and smart cities
- Communications and Networking for smart cities
- Smart technologies, systems, and infrastructures for smart cities
- Ubiquitous sensing and urban analytics
- Big data analytics for smart cities
- Cloud computing for smart cities
- Mobile Crowdsensing for smart cities
- Cybersecurity and privacy for smart cities
- Smart Transportation/Connected Vehicle (CV)/Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) for
- improved mobility, safety and environmental protection
- Smart energy/grid
- Smart buildings
- Smart living
- Smart healthcare and emergency management
- Smart environment and policy development
- Smart manufacturing and logistics
- Citizen engagement and smart governance
- Smart economy development
- Digital city and smart growth
- Case studies and testbeds for smart cities around the world
- Distributed optimization and control for interdependent infrastructure networks
- Modeling the social impact of smart technologies
- Advances in human-in-the-loop design and human interfaces with smart cities systems and infrastructures
- Closing the loop for real-time control and decision making
- Computing for sustainable and green urban living
- We also highly recommend the submission of multimedia with each article as it significantly increases the visibility, downloads, and citations of articles.
