This is a fixed term position within Lancaster University's institution-wide research centre, Security Lancaster, which is one of the UK's Academic Centres of Excellence in Cyber Security Research. You will join a major programme of work on security of cyber-physical infrastructures currently in progress through a number of research projects. You will focus on developing an experimental platform that will provide the essential front end to an existing industrial control systems testbed in Security Lancaster in order to support experimental work. Specifically, you will develop features that will enable different attack scenarios to be programmed and relevant data captured for subsequent analysis. The platform would be configurable to different types of attack scenarios and the you will play a key role in the design of experiments and analysis of the results. Furthermore, you will be responsible for developing a software tool to support cyber security risk decision-making in such environments, with a particular focus on risk decision-making with regards to vulnerabilities arising from the supply chains. It is expected that the design of such a decision-support tool will be informed by the experimental work and discussions/joint work with other researchers involved in relevant projects. You will join a thriving multi-disciplinary community of 80 researchers within Security Lancaster, tackling current and future challenges to the security and resilience of individuals, organisations, infrastructures and society-at-large. The Centre and the School of Computing and Communications (where the post is based) both offer a highly inclusive and stimulating environment for research career development. There is a strong expectation that you will actively contribute to the strong profile of the Centre and its inter-disciplinary ethos through participation in the development and publication of research results. The post is available from the 1 April 2016 for a duration of 18 months.

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Professor Awais Rashid, Director of Security Lancaster and Principal Investigator of the project, email: marash@comp.lancs.ac.uk or telephone +44 1524 510316. We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
