Postdoc position on Privacy, University of Gothenburg
Postdoc in Computer Science: Privacy
Department of Computer Science and Engineering
University of Gothenburg, Sweden
As part of a project funded by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsradet), we are seeking excellent applicants for a postdoc position to perform research on privacy-related problems. We aim at addressing different research questions related to privacy, from theoretical foundations to design of privacy-aware software. The successful candidate will join a team that has been working in the recent years on privacy policies and language-based approaches to privacy, and is encouraged to build on this work and to propose new solutions coming from his/her previous research. A strong background in formal methods, language-based security, or programming languages is particularly welcomed, but the applicant may bring complementary expertise not yet existing in the team.
The candidate must have a proven track record in conducting original competitive scientific research and publishing the results in reputable conferences and scientific journals. Maturity, self-motivation, and the ability to work both independently and as a team player, are expected. Besides a strong theoretical background, interest and experience with software development is very welcome.
The postdoc position is open for persons with a doctoral degree in computer science, or a related field. Their research topics will be selected on an individual basis in accordance with the specific subject description above.
The position is offered for a period of two years. We expect the candidate to start as soon as possible, or upon agreement (but not later than 1st of November 2016). The postdoc may work up to 20% of their time in teaching and other departmental duties, according to individual agreement. Postdocs get a regular full-time salary and social security.
To qualify as a postdoctoral fellow, the applicant must have completed a Swedish doctoral degree or must have a foreign degree corresponding to a Swedish doctoral degree. Preference will be given to candidates who have been awarded the degree no more than three years before the application deadline and who have not held a post-doc position within the same or similar subject area at the University of Gothenburg for more than one year.
Before submitting a full formal application interested candidates are encouraged to contact Gerardo Schneider (see contact details below) for further questions, and to send a short statement of research interests (possibly with a short CV).
