We had a great GCTC Tech Jam and IoT-Enabled Smart City Framework Workshop last week. More than 300 stakeholders attended the event in person and 60+ additional attendees joined via webcast and conference call. Thank you to all who joined us for the exciting event.
Plenary speakers at the Tech Jam included representatives of federal and local government agencies, private companies and nonprofit organizations. A highlight of the event was the 60+ presentations made by the 2016 GCTC Action Clusters.

The 2016 GCTC Expo Announcement
Building-on the tremendous momentum created at the Tech Jam, we are thrilled to announce that the 2016 GCTC Expo will take place in Austin, TX at the Austin Convention Center June 13-14, 2016. The Expo will showcase GCTC Action Clusters and will feature speakers and panelists on a wide range of smart city topics. The two-day event will include an exhibition space in which trade-show style booths will be made available to 2016 GCTC Action Clusters.

Please Note: Although the GCTC Expo is co-located with US Ignite's Application Summit and the Smart Cities Innovation Summit, the GCTC Expo is a separate and different event. The GCTC Expo will have its own exhibition space and its own process for registration. Acceptance as a speaker or exhibitor by the US Ignite Application Summit or the Smart Cities Innovation Summit events does not entitle an organization to speak or exhibit at the GCTC Expo.
New Partner Organization for GCTC
US Green Building Council (USGBC), a non-profit organization, is partnering with the Global Cities Teams Challenge. To all 2016 GCTC Action Clusters, USGBC is extending a set of tools designed to evaluate green and smart buildings, infrastructure, communities and cities. The LEED Dynamic Plaque for Cities and the Performance Scoring tools offers both cities and professionals with credible mechanisms by which to compare, manage and improve the performance of urban systems through transformative actions. New Funding Opportunity Announcement
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) has announced a Cities-LEAP funding opportunity to support the development and piloting of data-driven energy frameworks with the help of local and tribal governments. The goal of the funding is to advance model practices and processes that improve the ability of local governments to integrate, analyze, and understand varied datasets in order to pursue opportunities across all clean energy sectors.
Please note: In order to develop data-driven energy frameworks, local and tribal governments are strongly encouraged to partner with academic institutions, technology companies, utilities, regional planning bodies, and non-governmental organizations.
The submission deadline for concept papers is May 17, 2016, by 5:00 p.m. ET. Full applications are due June 17, 2016, by 5:00 p.m. ET.

Reminders:
The deadline of the EAGER grant is fast approaching. To be considered, the applicant must be an active member of a GCTC Action Cluster, working on a project that will build upon the results of a previous or active NSF-funded project. Grant applications are due April 1, 2016.
GCTC Leadership Fund:
US Ignite announced the GCTC Leadership Fund, a funding opportunity available to private companies, local governments, nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions that are participating in GCTC Action Clusters, regardless of their geographic location. NIST GCTC Local Government Grant Program:
NIST has released a grant program for local governments participating in the Global City Teams Challenge. The program is called the "Replicable Smart City Technologies" (RSCT) Cooperative Agreement Program. This funding opportunity will grant three $100,000 awards for U.S. local governments participating in the GCTC. The application deadline is May 12, 2016.
