CALL FOR PAPERS
Building IoT 2017
Mar 27 - 29, 2017 | London, England | http://www.buildingiot.london
Building IoT will be held from March 27 to 29, 2017, and will embrace the full spectrum of topics connected to the Internet of Things and Industry 4.0, focusing on software development and technical implementation in enterprise environments.
The event will explain core concepts and technologies to attendees at the start of their IoT journey, while giving more advanced delegates the opportunity to examine the most important theories, tools and experiences available, courtesy of speakers and trainers who are already exploring IoT in depth.
The organisers of building IoT are The Register and Heise Medien. They invite interested parties to submit proposals for talks (45 and 75 minutes) and training workshops (7 hours) including , but not limited to, the following topics:
Concepts and basics
- Fundamentals of hardware, electronics and information technologies for software developers
- Prototyping and modelling of IoT systems
- Architecture of IoT projects
- Testing complex IoT systems
- User interfaces, UX
- IoT and Big Data, including the handling and analysis of data streams
Technologies
- Protocols and communication standards
- Microcontrollers
- Sensors, actuators
- Connectivity
- IoT platforms in the cloud
- Programming languages, frameworks and libraries
- Blockchain
- Energy Harvesting
Security
- Potential weaknesses of IoT systems
- Secure data transfer and storage
- Secure project design and architectures
- Data protection and privacy
Experiences
- Experiences from active and completed projects, that have implemented basic IoT approaches and related concepts (project organisation)
- Experiences transitioning and expanding software projects into interconnected and data driven products
- Interaction and integration of different tools (presented in the context of their specific field of application and different scenarios)
- Use cases, that could profit from integrating IoT concepts
- "IoT in one's own four walls": How did we implement that within our company?
The organisers are looking for proposals for long (75 minutes) and short (45 minutes) sessions for the conference program, and seven hour training sessions four the workshop days are scheduled for a duration of 7 hours (full-day workshops).
All proposals should include a target-group specific 400 to 700 character abstract. To better assess your proposals, we would also like you to list some keywords (e.g. your main topic, the tools you use, etc.), and include one sentence describing what your audience should already know and one sentence stating what they can expect to learn during the talk. Additional materials (longer version of the abstracts, slides, papers etc.) to support your submission are welcome, too.
The deadline for proposals is October 7, and the schedule should be completed by the beginning of November.
If you're short on speaking experience and need help with your proposal, we're happy to assist you via e-mail. Just contact us here and we'll try to figure something out.
To secure objectivity, the review process is anonymised, which means that the editorial board doesn't know a proposer's name or company while discussing a proposal. Talks with the sole purpose of marketing your product aren't eligible for the review process and you should contact our sponsorship team.
Speakers and instructors will get free entrance to both conference days and we may provide expenses and accommodation. If you would like to be considered for these reimbursements, please contact us here.
Entrants should be aware of our Code of Conduct and keep it in mind while drafting their proposals.
