The Department of Informatics at Leicester is growing its capability for interdisciplinary and applied teaching and research while maintaining a strong presence in the core discipline. As part of this strategy, which will be delivered through a number of appointments over the coming year, we seek to make two appointments.

Lecturer

We are looking to appoint an excellent researcher and teacher to help us develop one of two key areas where potential for interdisciplinary work is strongest across our University: Human Computer Interaction, and Knowledge Discovery and Machine Learning, including their applications to Software Engineering.

You will be expected to conduct high-level innovative research and teaching, including the publication of research, development of teaching materials, research supervision and income generation through research grants, consultancy, and/or knowledge transfer, as well as contribute to the work of the new research institutes, such as the Leicester Institute for Space and Earth Observation and the Leicester Precision Medicine Institute.

Teaching Fellow

We currently conducting a significant review of our undergraduate programmes. You will be responsible for developing and teaching new modules in practical areas of computing, such as programming, data bases, web or mobile development, adopting methods of technology-enhanced and project-based learning.

Following you own interests and those of our students you will propose and supervise BSc and MSc projects. You will also contribute to the administration of the Department or support enterprise activities, including consultancy, professional training, and supervision of students working for external partners.
