Together our staff and students are discovering innovative ways to change the world for the better and there has never been a more exciting time for you to join us. We are ranked in the top 1% of universities worldwide and have an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. We are led by discovery and innovation, with the synergy between research and learning at the core of our activity.

The Department of Informatics is growing its capability for interdisciplinary and applied research while maintaining a strong presence in the core discipline. As part of this strategy, which will be delivered through several appointments over the coming year, we seek an excellent researcher and teacher to help us develop the key area of Human Computer Interaction, which is crucial for our plans to grow interdisciplinary work within as well as beyond our University.

We are looking for candidates with a strong research background in one or more of the following areas: Interaction Design, Experience-centred Design, Service Design, Research-through-Design, Tangible & Embodied Interaction, Ubiquitous Computing, Urban Informatics, Physical Computing & Shape-Changing Interfaces. Outstanding applicants in other HCI areas will also be considered.

You will be expected to conduct high-level innovative research and teaching, including the publication of research, development of teaching materials, research supervision and income generation through research grants, consultancy, and/or knowledge transfer.

A lecturer position in the UK is similar to an assistant professorship in the North-American system.
