Special Session: CPUAS: Cyber-Physical Unmanned Aircraft Systems

at 2017 ICUAS

June 13-16, 2017 | Miami, FL | http://uasconferences.com/

Cyber-Physical Systems research is becoming increasingly important as we more deeply integrate physical system performance with computation and communication. Nowhere is this more prevalent and needed than in a modern Unmanned Aircraft System. CPS research aims to explore the intersection of control, communication, human interaction, and computation in ways that more deeply exploit interactions between these areas and offer new methods of modeling, characterizing, or controlling Cyber-Physical Unmanned Aircraft Systems (CPUAS).

In this special session we invite you to submit papers that contribute to the science, technology, or engineering of CPUAS in new and novel ways. The focus of the session is "Developing Cyber-Physical Unmanned Aircraft Systems." Papers in this special session should focus on either 1) CPS research topics with applications for UAS, or 2) UAS research topics with consideration of CPS themes. This year, the focus of the 2017 International Conference on Unmanned Aircraft Systems is "networked unmanned systems," the perfect opportunity to bring together CPS and UAS research areas. Additional topics may include:

  • Cyber-Physical Modeling for UAS
  • Real-Time Scheduling for Onboard UAS Computation
  • UAS Communication Algorithms
  • UAS Validation and Verification
  • Real-Time Computer Control of UAS
  • Distributed Networked UAS
  • Co-Optimization of CPUAS
  • Path Planning and Navigation for CPUAS
  • Embedded Systems for UAS
  • Smart and Autonomous CPUAS
  • Robust Computer Control of UAS
  • CPUAS Safety and Security
  • NextGen Airspace for CPUAS
  • Human Interaction with CPUAS

More CPS research themes and topics can be found here: http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/6106049/?arnumber=6106049

ICUAS is an excellent venue to merge CPS and UAS research with qualified military, civilian, funding agency, and academic representatives. Full draft manuscripts are required and are fully peer-reviewed. Submissions are due February 12, 2017 with an indication that they are for the CPUAS special session. ICUAS 2017 will be June 13-16, 2017 in Miami, FL. Papers can be submitted at https://controls.papercept.net. However, if you plan to submit, please email Justin Bradley (justin.bradley@unl.edu) to give him author names and titles as you will need to indicate your submission is for the "CPS Special Session." Please see the general ICUAS flier (attached) for more details.
