We are currently accepting applications for Research Scientists and Post Docs (Research Associates). The School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia seeks to hire multiple Research Scientists and Post Doc (Research Associates) to support the newly formed Link Lab. The incumbents are expected to perform one or more of the following activities: generate novel research, write proposals, direct graduate students, work with multiple faculty members, build and maintain CPS systems and support the transfer of technology to Industry. Specific examples of research areas of particular interest to our program include, but are not limited to:

  • Formal and model-based reasoning through all levels of design and operation
  • Sensor design, including RF sensing, novel sensing devices, and application thereof
  • RF and mixed-signal circuits
  • Robotics, drones, and autonomous and connected vehicles
  • Machine learning and signal processing as applied to cyber-physical systems
  • Communications, and networking and applications to support the internet of things
  • Cyber-Physical Systems with humans in the loop; human-automation interaction
  • Smart Cities
  • Smart and Connected Health
  • Other areas related to Cyber-Physical Systems

To be considered for the Post Doc (Research Associates), candidates must have a PhD in an engineering field or science or, preferably in Computer Science and Engineering, or Electrical engineering. Research experience and significant implementation experience in one of the areas of interest to the Link Lab is strongly preferred. Proficient knowledge of computer word processing, spreadsheet, database software, power point, statistics and other software used in scientific research analysis are required. Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, willing to take the lead and work independently and as a team member.
