We are seeking an exceptional candidate for a fully funded PhD position within the Centre for Intelligent Systems and their Applications http://web.inf.ed.ac.uk/cisa in the School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh. The successful candidate will work on innovative research involving artificial intelligence (autonomous agents, multi-agent systems) and cyber security (secure remote authentication), under the supervision of Dr. Stefano Albrecht.

The University of Edinburgh is consistently ranked as a top-tier research institution in both international and national ranking tables. The School of Informatics within the university has recently been ranked #14 world-wide by the Times Higher Education Computer Science ranking [1]. Edinburgh regularly features as one of the most desirable places to live, e.g. [2].

Candidate requirements: Master's degree (or equivalent) with top grades in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Mathematics, or related field. Strong knowledge of statistics and probability, excellent programming skills, and the ability to work independently are essential. A background in artificial intelligence (multi-agent systems, opponent modelling) and cyber security (secure remote authentication, network protocols) is beneficial but not required.

Funding: This is a University of Edinburgh funded award and will provide an annual stipend for three years (approx. PS14,550 per year, subject to confirmation), plus tuition fees for UK/EU students. Students from outside the EU are eligible but will have to cover remaining tuition fees.
