Background, Best Paper Awards and Springer Book
This workshop is co-funded by AGYA, the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities. The best paper will receive an award of EU 1.000. The best student paper will receive an award of EU 300. We aim to create extended versions of the best workshop papers, which are to become chapters in a Springer book with publication aimed for 2019. These articles will be proofread and all contributors will receive a small award.
Topics & Motivation
Social robots not only work with humans in collaborative workspaces but also follow us into much more personal settings like home and health care. Does this imply that social robots should be able to interpret and adequately respond to human emotions? Should they simulate emotions?
The workshop aims to cover the phenomenon of social robots from the historic roots over today's best practices to future perspectives. Thus, it is interdisciplinary, welcoming contributions not only computer scientists but also researchers from other disciplines like psychology, medicine, law, history, and the arts and humanities.
For developments like robots in health care and domestic areas, we will discuss both the technological and the ethical challenges arising. The aim is to create a guideline, an intended design space for future developments in social robotics.
A long version of the call can be found under:
