The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) will be hosting a webinar which will discuss the needs and subsequent strategies for standards and specifications arisen during the Mobility on Demand (MOD) demonstrations. This webinar will allow interested stakeholders to learn about two MOD Sandbox grant projects that are using open source software, open data and standards to facilitate the replication of the systems.
Participants will hear from TriMet and VTrans regarding their MOD projects, focusing on the integration of shared-use mobility providers the OpenTripPlanner (OTP). Furthermore, participants will also learn about initiatives supporting MOD activities such as Federal Transit Administration's (FTA) multimodal payment integration initiative.
Technologies like smartphones and on-demand transportation options have disrupted transportation models in many areas across the world. However, with so many MOD providers entering the space, interoperability is becoming evident, but equally difficult to maintain. Our speakers will discuss their experiences in developing open source standards, to provide open and scalable platforms for interoperability and replicability. Our speakers will also discuss payment integration solutions to provide a seamless travel experience within the mobility system.
This webinar is sponsored by the USDOT Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO) and is free and open to the public.
