A Neighbor Trust-Based Mechanism to Protect Mobile Networks. IEEE Potentials. 38:20–25.

2019. Mobile nodes in a mobile ad hoc network (MANET) form a temporal link between a sender and receiver due to their continuous movement in a limited area. This network can be easily attacked because there is no organized identity. This article discusses the MANET, its various associated challenges, and selected solutions. As a case study, a neighbor trust-based security scheme that can prevent malicious attacks in a MANET is discussed in detail. The security scheme identifies each node's behavior in the network in terms of packets received and forwarded. Nodes are placed in a suspicious range, and if the security scheme detects malicious function continuously, then it is confirmed that the particular node is the attacker in the network.
