Named Data Networking (NDN) is a promising Internet architecture which is expected to solve some problems (e.g., security, mobility) of the current TCP/IP architecture. The basic concept of NDN is to use named data for routing instead of using location addresses like IP address. NDN natively supports consumer mobility, but producer mobility is still a challenge and there have been quite a few researches. Considering the Internet connection such as public transport vehicles, network mobility support in NDN is important, but it is still a challenge. That is the reason that this paper proposes an efficient network mobility support scheme in NDN in terms of signaling protocols and data retrieval.

Customer Edge Switching (CES) is an experimental Internet architecture that provides reliable and resilient multi-domain communications. It provides resilience against security threats because domains negotiate inbound and outbound policies before admitting new traffic. As CES and its signalling protocols are being prototyped, there is a need for independent testing of the CES architecture. Hence, our research goal is to develop an automated test framework that CES protocol designers and early adopters can use to improve the architecture. The test framework includes security, functional, and performance tests. Using the Robot Framework and STRIDE analysis, in this paper we present this automated security test framework. By evaluating sample test scenarios, we show that the Robot Framework and our CES test suite have provided productive discussions about this new architecture, in addition to serving as clear, easy-to-read documentation. Our research also confirms that test automation can be useful to improve new protocol architectures and validate their implementation.

Communication networks can be the targets of organized and distributed attacks such as flooding-type DDOS attack in which malicious users aim to cripple a network server or a network domain. For the attack to have a major effect on the network, malicious users must act in a coordinated and time correlated manner. For instance, the members of the flooding attack increase their message transmission rates rapidly but also synchronously. Even though detection and prevention of the flooding attacks are well studied at network and transport layers, the emergence and wide deployment of new systems such as VoIP (Voice over IP) have turned flooding attacks at the session layer into a new defense challenge. In this study a structured sparsity based group anomaly detection system is proposed that not only can detect synchronized attacks, but also identify the malicious groups from normal users by jointly estimating their members, structure, starting and end points. Although we mainly focus on security on SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) servers/proxies which are widely used for signaling in VoIP systems, the proposed scheme can be easily adapted for any type of communication network system at any layer.

The deployment of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) in place of traditional communication facilities has helped in huge reduction in operating costs, as well as enabled adoption of next generation communication services-based IP. At the same time, cyber criminals have also started intercepting environment and creating challenges for law enforcement system in any Country. At this instant, we propose a framework for the forensic analysis of the VoIP traffic over the network. This includes identifying and analyzing of network patterns of VoIP- SIP which is used for the setting up a session for the communication, and VoIP-RTP which is used for sending the data. Our network forensic investigation framework also focus on developing an efficient packet reordering and reconstruction algorithm for tracing the malicious users involved in conversation. The proposed framework is based on network forensics which can be used for content level observation of VoIP and regenerate original malicious content or session between malicious users for their prosecution in the court.

We propose Authentication and Key Agreement (AKA) for Machine Type Communications (MTC) in LTE-Advanced. This protocol is based on an idea of grouping devices so that it would reduce signaling congestion in the access network and overload on the single authentication server. We verified that this protocol is designed to be secure against many attacks by using a software verification tool. Furthermore, performance evaluation suggests that this protocol is efficient with respect to authentication overhead and handover delay.
