One of the biggest studies on public safety and tracking that has sparked a lot of interest in recent years is deep learning approach. Current public safety methods are existent for counting and detecting persons. But many issues such as aberrant occurring in public spaces are seldom detected and reported to raise an automated alarm. Our proposed method detects anomalies (deviation from normal events) from the video surveillance footages using deep learning and raises an alarm, if anomaly is found. The proposed model is trained to detect anomalies and then it is applied to the video recording of the surveillance that is used to monitor public safety. Then the video is assessed frame by frame to detect anomaly and then if there is match, an alarm is raised.
Voice communication is an important need in daily activities whether delivered with or without technology. Telecommunication technology has accommodated this need by providing a wide range of infrastructure, including large varieties of devices used as intermediary and end devices. One of the cellular technologies that is very widely used by the public is GSM (Global System for Mobile), while in the military, trunked radio is still popular. However, the security systems of GSM and trunked radio have limitations. Therefore, this paper proposes a platform to secure voice data over wireless mobile communication by providing end-to-end encryption. This platform is robust to noise, real-time and remains secure. The proposed encryption utilizes multicircular permutations rotated by expanded keys as dynamic keys to scramble the data. We carry out simulations and testbed implementation to prove that application of the proposed method is feasible.
It is technically challenging to conduct a security analysis of a dynamic network, due to the lack of methods and techniques to capture different security postures as the network changes. Graphical Security Models (e.g., Attack Graph) are used to assess the security of network systems, but it typically captures a snapshot of a network state to carry out the security analysis. To address this issue, we propose a new Graphical Security Model named Time-independent Hierarchical Attack Representation Model (Ti-HARM) that captures security of multiple network states by taking into account the time duration of each network state and the visibility of network components (e.g., hosts, edges) in each state. By incorporating the changes, we can analyse the security of dynamic networks taking into account all the threats appearing in different network states. Our experimental results show that the Ti-HARM can effectively capture and assess the security of dynamic networks which were not possible using existing graphical security models.
Mobile attack approaches can be categorized as Application Based Attacks and Frequency Based Attacks. Application based attacks are reviewed extensively in the literature. However, frequency based attacks to mobile phones are not experimented in detail. In this work, we have experimentally succeeded to attack an Android smartphone using a simple software based radio circuit. We have developed a software “Primary Mobile Hack Builder” to control Android operated cellphone as a distance. The SMS information and pictures in the cellphone can be obtained using this device. On the other hand, after launching a software into targeting cellphone, the camera of the cellphone can be controlled for taking pictures and downloading them into our computers. It was also possible to eavesdropping the conversation.
A5-1 algorithm is a stream cipher used to encrypt voice data in GSM, which needs to be realized with high performance due to real-time requirements. Traditional implementation on FPGA or ASIC can't obtain a trade-off among performance, cost and flexibility. To this aim, this paper introduces CGRCA to implement A5-1, and in order to optimize the performance and resource consumption, this paper proposes a resource-based path seeking (RPS) algorithm to develop an advanced implementation. Experimental results show that final optimal throughput of A5-1 implemented on CGRCA is 162.87Mbps when the frequency is 162.87MHz, and the set-up time is merely 87 cycles, which is optimal among similar works.
Simple connectivity and data requirements together with high lifetime of battery are the main issues for the machine-to-machine (M2M) communications. 3GPP focuses on three main licensed standardizations based on Long Term Evolution (LTE), GSM and clean-slate technologies. The paper considers the last one and proposes a modified slotted-Aloha method to increase the capability of supporting a massive number of low-throughput devices. The proposed method increases the access rate of users belonging to each class considered in the clean-slate standard and consequently the total throughput offered by the system. To derive the mean access rate per class, we use the Markov chain approach and simulation results are provided for scenarios with different data rate and also in terms of cell average delay.
In this paper we investigate the proposals made by various industries for the Cellular Internet of Things (C-IoT). We start by introducing the context of C-IoT and demonstrate how this technology is closely linked to the Low Power-Wide Area (LPWA) technologies and networks. An in-depth look and system level evaluation is given for each clean slate technology and a comparison is made based on its specifications.

Security in mobile handsets of telecommunication standards such as GSM, Project 25 and TETRA is very important, especially when governments and military forces use handsets and telecommunication devices. Although telecommunication could be quite secure by using encryption, coding, tunneling and exclusive channel, attackers create new ways to bypass them without the knowledge of the legitimate user. In this paper we introduce a new, simple and economical circuit to warn the user in cases where the message is not encrypted because of manipulation by attackers or accidental damage. This circuit not only consumes very low power but also is created to sustain telecommunication devices in aspect of security and using friendly. Warning to user causes the best practices of telecommunication devices without wasting time and energy for fault detection.
GSM network is the most widely used communication network for mobile phones in the World. However the security of the voice communication is the main issue in the GSM network. This paper proposes the technique for secure end to end communication over GSM network. The voice signal is encrypted at real time using digital techniques and transmitted over the GSM network. At receiver end the same decoding algorithm is used to extract the original speech signal. The speech trans-coding process of the GSM, severely distort an encrypted signal that does not possess the characteristics of speech signal. Therefore, it is not possible to use standard modem techniques over the GSM speech channel. The user may choose an appropriate algorithm and hardware platform as per requirement.
