Satisfying the growing demand for electricity is a huge challenge for electricity providers without a robust and good infrastructure. For effective electricity management, the infrastructure has to be strengthened from the generation stage to the transmission and distribution stages. In the current electrical infrastructure, the evolution of smart grids provides a significant solution to the problems that exist in the conventional system. Enhanced management visibility and better monitoring and control are achieved by the integration of wireless sensor network technology in communication systems. However, to implement these solutions in the existing grids, the infrastructural constraints impose a major challenge. Along with the choice of technology, it is also crucial to avoid exorbitant implementation costs. This paper presents a self-stabilizing hierarchical algorithm for the existing electrical network. Neighborhood Area Networks (NAN) and Home Area Networks (HAN) layers are used in the proposed architecture. The Home Node (HN), Simple Node (SN) and Cluster Head (CH) are the three types of nodes used in the model. Fraudulent users in the system are identified efficiently using the proposed model based on the observations made through simulation on OMNeT++ simulator.

The report examines approaches to assessing the information security of data transmission networks (DTN). The analysis of methods for quantitative assessment of information security risks is carried out. A methodological approach to the assessment of IS DTN based on the risk-oriented method is presented. A method for assessing risks based on the mathematical apparatus of the queening systems (QS) is considered and the problem of mathematical modeling is solved.

Network security and data confidentiality of transmitted information are among the non-functional requirements of industrial wireless sensor networks (IWSNs) in addition to latency, reliability and energy efficiency requirements. Physical layer security techniques are promising solutions to assist cryptographic methods in the presence of an eavesdropper in IWSN setups. In this paper, we propose a physical layer security scheme, which is based on both insertion of an random error vector to forward error correction (FEC) codewords and transmission over decentralized relay nodes. Reed-Solomon and Golay codes are selected as FEC coding schemes and the security performance of the proposed model is evaluated with the aid of decoding error probability of an eavesdropper. The results show that security level is highly based on the location of the eavesdropper and secure communication can be achieved when some of channels between eavesdropper and relay nodes are significantly noisier.

P. Dahake, S. Nimbhorkar.  2015.  "Hybrid cryptosystem for maintaining image integrity using biometric fingerprint". 2015 International Conference on Pervasive Computing (ICPC). :1-5.

Integrity of image data plays an important role in data communication. Image data contain confidential information so it is very important to protect data from intruder. When data is transmitted through the network, there may be possibility that data may be get lost or damaged. Existing system does not provide all functionality for securing image during transmission. i.e image compression, encryption and user authentication. In this paper hybrid cryptosystem is proposed in which biometric fingerprint is used for key generation which is further useful for encryption purpose. Secret fragment visible mosaic image method is used for secure transmission of image. For reducing the size of image lossless compression technique is used which leads to the fast transmission of image data through transmission channel. The biometric fingerprint is useful for authentication purpose. Biometric method is more secure method of authentication because it requires physical presence of human being and it is untraceable.
