Hendrawan, H., Sukarno, P., Nugroho, M. A..  2019.  Quality of Service (QoS) Comparison Analysis of Snort IDS and Bro IDS Application in Software Define Network (SDN) Architecture. 2019 7th International Conference on Information and Communication Technology (ICoICT). :1—7.

Intrusion Detection system (IDS) was an application which was aimed to monitor network activity or system and it could find if there was a dangerous operation. Implementation of IDS on Software Define Network architecture (SDN) has drawbacks. IDS on SDN architecture might decreasing network Quality of Service (QoS). So the network could not provide services to the existing network traffic. Throughput, delay and packet loss were important parameters of QoS measurement. Snort IDS and bro IDS were tools in the application of IDS on the network. Both had differences, one of which was found in the detection method. Snort IDS used a signature based detection method while bro IDS used an anomaly based detection method. The difference between them had effects in handling the network traffic through it. In this research, we compared both tools. This comparison are done with testing parameters such as throughput, delay, packet loss, CPU usage, and memory usage. From this test, it was found that bro outperform snort IDS for throughput, delay , and packet loss parameters. However, CPU usage and memory usage on bro requires higher resource than snort.

Bharathy, A M Viswa, Umapathi, N, Prabaharan, S.  2019.  An Elaborate Comprehensive Survey on Recent Developments in Behaviour Based Intrusion Detection Systems. 2019 International Conference on Computational Intelligence in Data Science (ICCIDS). :1–5.

Intrusion detection system is described as a data monitoring, network activity study and data on possible vulnerabilities and attacks in advance. One of the main limitations of the present intrusion detection technology is the need to take out fake alarms so that the user can confound with the data. This paper deals with the different types of IDS their behaviour, response time and other important factors. This paper also demonstrates and brings out the advantages and disadvantages of six latest intrusion detection techniques and gives a clear picture of the recent advancements available in the field of IDS based on the factors detection rate, accuracy, average running time and false alarm rate.

Sekar, K. R., Gayathri, V., Anisha, G., Ravichandran, K. S., Manikandan, R..  2018.  Dynamic Honeypot Configuration for Intrusion Detection. 2018 2nd International Conference on Trends in Electronics and Informatics (ICOEI). :1397-1401.

The objective of the Honeypot security system is a mechanism to identify the unauthorized users and intruders in the network. The enterprise level security can be possible via high scalability. The whole theme behind this research is an Intrusion Detection System and Intrusion Prevention system factors accomplished through honeypot and honey trap methodology. Dynamic Configuration of honey pot is the milestone for this mechanism. Eight different methodologies were deployed to catch the Intruders who utilizing the unsecured network through the unused IP address. The method adapted here to identify and trap through honeypot mechanism activity. The result obtained is, intruders find difficulty in gaining information from the network, which helps a lot of the industries. Honeypot can utilize the real OS and partially through high interaction and low interaction respectively. The research work concludes the network activity and traffic can also be tracked through honeypot. This provides added security to the secured network. Detection, prevention and response are the categories available, and moreover, it detects and confuses the hackers.

Can, O..  2014.  Mobile agent based intrusion detection system. Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2014 22nd. :1363-1366.

An intrusion detection system (IDS) inspects all inbound and outbound network activity and identifies suspicious patterns that may indicate a network or system attack from someone attempting to break into or compromise a system. A networkbased system, or NIDS, the individual packets flowing through a network are analyzed. In a host-based system, the IDS examines at the activity on each individual computer or host. IDS techniques are divided into two categories including misuse detection and anomaly detection. In recently years, Mobile Agent based technology has been used for distributed systems with having characteristic of mobility and autonomy. In this working we aimed to combine IDS with Mobile Agent concept for more scale, effective, knowledgeable system.
