Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a kind of mobile multi-hop network which can transmit data through intermediate nodes, it has been widely used and become important since the growing of the market of Internet of Things (IoT). However, the transmissions on MANET are vulnerable, it usually suffered with many internal or external attacks, and the research on security topics of MANET are becoming more and more hot recently. Blackhole Attack is one of the most famous attacks to MANET. In this paper, we focus on the Blackhole Attack in AODV protocol, and use NS-3 network simulator to study the impact of Blackhole Attack on network performance parameters, such as the Throughput, End-to-End Delay and Packet Loss Rate. We further analyze the changes in network performance by adjusting the number of blackhole nodes and total nodes, and the movement speed of mobile nodes. The experimental results not only reflect the behaviors of the Blackhole Attack and its damage to the network, but also provide the characteristics of Blackhole Attacks clearly. This is helpful to the research of Blackhole Attack feature extraction and MANET security measurement.

The MANET that is Mobile Ad hoc Network are forming a group of many nodes. They can interact with each other in limited area. All the Malicious nodes present in the MANET always disturb the usual performance of routing and that cause the degradation of dynamic performance of the network. Nodes which are malicious continuously try to stump the neighbor nodes during the process of routing as all neighbor nodes in the network merely forward the reply and response of neighboring. The intermediate nodes work is very responsible in routing procedure with continuous movement. During the work we have recommended one security scheme against the attack of packet dropping by malicious node in the network. The scheme which is recommended here will work to find attacker by using the concept of detection of link to forward the data or information between sender and receiver. The packet dropping on link, through node is detected and prevented by IDS security system. The scheme not only works to identify the nodes performing malicious activity however prevent them also. The identification of attacker is noticed by dropping of data packets in excsssessive quantity. The prevention of it can be done via choosing the alternate route somewhere the attacker performing malicious activity not available among the senders to receivers. The neighbor nodes or intermediary identify the malicious activity performer by the way of reply of malicious nodes which is confirmed. The recommended IDS system secures the network and also increases the performance after blocking malicious nodes that perform malicious activity in the network. The network performance measures in the presence of attack and secure IDS with the help of performance metrics like PDR, throughput etc. Planned secure routing improves data receiving and minimizes dropping data in network.

Mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) contains various wireless movable nodes which can communicate with each other and they don't require any centralized administrator or network infrastructure and also can communicate with full capacity because it is composed of mobile nodes. They transmit data to each other with the help of intermediate nodes by establishing a path. But sometime malicious node can easily enter in network due to the mobility of nodes. That malicious node can harm the network by dropping the data packets. These type of attack is called gray hole attack. For detection and prevention from this type of attack a mechanism is proposed in this paper. By using network simulator, the simulation will be carried out for reporting the difficulties of prevention and detection of multiple gray hole attack in the Mobile ad-hoc network (MANET). Particle Swarm Optimization is used in this paper. Because of ad-hoc nature it observers the changing values of the node, if the value is infinite then node has been attacked and it prevents other nodes from sending data to that node. In this paper, we present possible solutions to prevent the network. Firstly, find more than one route to transmit packets to destination. Second, we provide minimum time delay to deliver the packet. The simulation shows the higher throughput, less time delay and less packet drop.
