Entropy based Security Rating Evaluation Scheme for Pattern Lock. 2020 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics - Taiwan (ICCE-Taiwan). :1–2.

2020. To better protect users' privacy, various authentication mechanisms have been applied on smartphones. Android pattern lock has been widely used because it is easy to memorize, however, simple ones are more vulnerable to attack such as shoulder surfing attack. In this paper, we propose a security rating evaluation scheme based on pattern lock. In particular, an entropy function of a pattern lock can be calculated, which is decided by five kinds of attributes: size, length, angle, overlap and intersection for quantitative evaluation of pattern lock. And thus, the security rating thresholds will be determined by the distribution of entropy values. Finally, we design and develop an APP based on Android Studio, which is used to verify the effectiveness of our proposed security rating evaluation scheme.
Improving Cache Performance for Large-Scale Photo Stores via Heuristic Prefetching Scheme. IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems. 30:2033–2045.

2019. Photo service providers are facing critical challenges of dealing with the huge amount of photo storage, typically in a magnitude of billions of photos, while ensuring national-wide or world-wide satisfactory user experiences. Distributed photo caching architecture is widely deployed to meet high performance expectations, where efficient still mysterious caching policies play essential roles. In this work, we present a comprehensive study on internet-scale photo caching algorithms in the case of QQPhoto from Tencent Inc., the largest social network service company in China. We unveil that even advanced cache algorithms can only perform at a similar level as simple baseline algorithms and there still exists a large performance gap between these cache algorithms and the theoretically optimal algorithm due to the complicated access behaviors in such a large multi-tenant environment. We then expound the reasons behind this phenomenon via extensively investigating the characteristics of QQPhoto workloads. Finally, in order to realistically further improve QQPhoto cache efficiency, we propose to incorporate a prefetcher in the cache stack based on the observed immediacy feature that is unique to the QQPhoto workload. The prefetcher proactively prefetches selected photos into cache before they are requested for the first time to eliminate compulsory misses and promote hit ratios. Our extensive evaluation results show that with appropriate prefetching we improve the cache hit ratio by up to 7.4 percent, while reducing the average access latency by 6.9 percent at a marginal cost of 4.14 percent backend network traffic compared to the original system that performs no prefetching.

2019. Warnings happen a lot in real transmission networks. These warnings can affect people's lives. It is significant to analyze the alarm association rules in the network. Many algorithms can help solve this problem but not considering the actual physical significance. Therefore, in this study, we mine the association rules in warning weblogs based on a sequential mining algorithm (GSP) with topology structure. We define a topology constraint from network physical connection data. Under the topology constraint, network nodes have topology relation if they are directly connected or have a common adjacency node. In addition, due to the large amount of data, we implement the hash-tree search method to improve the mining efficiency. The theoretical solution is feasible and the simulation results verify our method. In simulation, the topology constraint improves the accuracy for 86%-96% and decreases the run time greatly at the same time. The hash-tree based mining results show that hash tree efficiency improvements are in 3-30% while the number of patterns remains unchanged. In conclusion, using our method can mine association rules efficiently and accurately in warning weblogs.
