Cybersecurity for complex systems operating in cyber-physical environment is becoming more and more critical because of the increasing cyber threats and systems' vulnerabilities. Security by design is quite an important method to ensure the systems' normal operations and services supply. For the aim of coping with cyber-attack affections properly, this paper studies the resilient security control issue for time-varying delay systems in cyber-physical environment with state estimation and moving defense approach. Time-varying delay factor induced by communication and network transmission, or data acquisition and processing, or certain cyber-attacks, is considered. To settle the cyber-attacks from the perspective of system control, a dynamic system model considering attacks is presented, and the corresponding switched control model with time-varying delay against attacks is formulated. Then the state estimator for system states is designed to overcome the problem that certain states cannot be measured directly. Estimated states serve as the input of the resilient security controller. Sufficient conditions of the stability of the observer and control system are derived out with the Lyapunov stability analysis method jointly. A moving defense strategy based on anomaly detection and random switching is presented, in which an optimization problem for calculating the proper switching probability of each candidate actuator-controller pair is given. Simulation experimental results are shown to illustrate the effectiveness of the presented scheme.

As a new type of complex system, multi delay network in the field of information security undertakes the important responsibility of solving information congestion, balancing network bandwidth and traffic. The problems of data loss, program failure and a large number of system downtime still exist in the conventional multi delay system when dealing with the problem of information jam, which makes the corresponding reliability of the whole system greatly reduced. Based on this, this paper mainly studies and analyzes the stability system and reliability of the corresponding multi delay system in the information security perspective. In this paper, the stability and reliability analysis of multi delay systems based on linear matrix and specific function environment is innovatively proposed. Finally, the sufficient conditions of robust asymptotic stability of multi delay systems are obtained. At the same time, the relevant stability conditions and robust stability conditions of multi delay feedback switched systems are given by simulation. In the experimental part, the corresponding data and conclusions are simulated. The simulation results show that the reliability and stability analysis data of multi delay system proposed in this paper have certain experimental value.

A Robot Operating System (ROS) plays a significant role in organizing industrial robots for manufacturing. With an increasing number of the robots, the operators integrate a ROS with networked communication to share the data. This cyber-physical nature exposes the ROS to cyber attacks. To this end, this paper proposes a cross-layer approach to achieve secure and resilient control of a ROS. In the physical layer, due to the delay caused by the security mechanism, we design a time-delay controller for the ROS agent. In the cyber layer, we define cyber states and use Markov Decision Process to evaluate the tradeoffs between physical and security performance. Due to the uncertainty of the cyber state, we extend the MDP to a Partially Observed Markov Decision Process (POMDP). We propose a threshold solution based on our theoretical results. Finally, we present numerical examples to evaluate the performance of the secure and resilient mechanism.

In this paper, we propose a robust Nash strategy for a class of uncertain Markov jump delay stochastic systems (UMJDSSs) via static output feedback (SOF). After establishing the extended bounded real lemma for UMJDSS, the conditions for the existence of a robust Nash strategy set are determined by means of cross coupled stochastic matrix inequalities (CCSMIs). In order to solve the SOF problem, an heuristic algorithm is developed based on the algebraic equations and the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). In particular, it is shown that robust convergence is guaranteed under a new convergence condition. Finally, a practical numerical example based on the congestion control for active queue management is provided to demonstrate the reliability and usefulness of the proposed design scheme.

The cyber-physical systems (CPSes) rely on computing and control techniques to achieve system safety and reliability. However, recent attacks show that these techniques are vulnerable once the cyber-attackers have bypassed air gaps. The attacks may cause service disruptions or even physical damages. This paper designs the built-in attack characterization scheme for one general type of cyber-attacks in CPS, which we call time delay attack, that delays the transmission of the system control commands. We use the recurrent neural networks in deep learning to estimate the delay values from the input trace. Specifically, to deal with the long time-sequence data, we design the deep learning model using stacked bidirectional long short-term memory (LSTM) units. The proposed approach is tested by using the data generated from a power plant control system. The results show that the LSTM-based deep learning approach can work well based on data traces from three sensor measurements, i.e., temperature, pressure, and power generation, in the power plant control system. Moreover, we show that the proposed approach outperforms the base approach based on k-nearest neighbors.
