In Oldenburg I worked under Eike Mohlmann and implemented a distance sensor for use in his research project. His project uses software called Virtual Test Drive (VTD) by VIRES. This software is a complex simulation platform. His research intends to use this software to test autonomous driving software. My distance sensor is a plugin for the VTD platform. It is meant to be attached on vehicles in the simulation and periodically calculate/send the distances between the bounding boxes of detected objects through the local internet to another computer to aid this testing and research.
