Iowa State has maintained one of the nation's leading power and energy university programs for over 60 years. Faculty in this area work together within the Electric Power and Energy Systems (EPES) group (http://www.ece.iastate.edu/research/graduate-student-research/electric-power-energy-systems/) at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. These faculty participate heavily in the ISU EPRC (http://powerweb.ece.iastate.edu/) and the PSERC (https://powerweb.ece.iastate.edu/power-systems-engineering-research-center-pserc/). The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University is home to 54 faculty, and is associated with 11 research centers and institutes. The department boasts 18 IEEE Fellows, $13.6M in research expenditures (FY17), and one of the largest ECpE enrollments in the nation. Successful candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, with a primary focus on power and energy systems; mentor and engage undergraduate, as well as prospective students; develop and sustain externally-funded research; engage with industry via the ISU Electric Power Research Center (EPRC) and the Power Systems Engineering Research Center (PSERC); supervise and mentor graduate students; and engage in professional and institutional service and leadership. An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field on or before the hire date. Women and underrepresented minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.
