HARD PROBLEM(S) ADDRESSED: Resilient Architectures

PUBLIC ACCOMPLISHMENT HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Continued to develop more effective micro-architectural attacks on commercial off-the-shelf platorms.
  • Continued to develop software/hardware collaborative defense mechanisms to mitigate micro-architectural attacks on our RISC-V SoC testbed on Amazon FPGA cloud.
  • Nvidia revealed in their official developer blog (https://devblogs.nvidia.com/nvdla/) that it uses FireSim-NVDLA, the open-source version of our RISC-V SoC testbed, to evaluate the software release for their open-source deep neural network hardware accelerator called Nvidia Deep Learning Accelerator (NVDLA).
  • Presented a demo of cache denial-of-service attacks on a self-driving car testbed and their mitigation using RT-Gang at OSPERT'19.
  • Presented an overview of micro-architectural attacks at RTSOPS'19.
  • Presented a paper at ECRTS'19.
