Trustworthy Information Systems in Healthcare
ABSTRACT
Health information technology (HIT) has the potential to greatly improve the quality of care while also improving the efficiency of health care delivery. Yet such effects require that technologies and systems must be trustworthy, i.e., that stakeholders are confident technology systems will do what they are designated to do. Two important features of confidence are the security and privacy of the data in such systems. This multi-disciplinary study of trustworthy information systems in healthcare entails four threads: (1) access control hygiene, (2) mobile health technologies, (3) economics of HIT, and (4) social informatics of HIT.
