Robotics Positions in CS at UNL

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is hiring multiple positions at all ranks in areas related to robotics and CPS. The department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is being transformed into a School of Computing. As part of this growth, robotics has been identified as a key growth area. Currently there are two general positions advertised, but we expect to be able to hire additional candidates:

Within CSE, we currently have over $5M in funding in robotics, primarily through the NIMBUS Lab (nimbus.unl.edu). There are also significant robotics activities and collaborations across campus (https://engineering.unl.edu/unl-robotics-faculty/). We are looking for additional faculty at all ranks to continue to accelerate the growth of robotics at UNL.

About Lincoln:

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is located in an up-and-coming and safe city of 300,000 people that has many of the cultural and entertainment benefits of a much larger city, with the feel of a friendly Midwestern community. Among the city's recent accolades, it ranked No. 4 in Forbes' "Best Places for Business and Careers" and was named the "Happiest City in America" according to the Gallup Well Being Index. With more parkland per capita than Austin, Portland, and all but a handful of U.S. cities, an extensive (and growing) bike trail network, many and diverse employment opportunities, and a low cost of living, Lincoln is one of the fastest growing metro areas in the Midwest.

About NIMBUS:

NIMBUS is directed by three professors (Drs. Bradley, Detweiler, and Duncan), has over 15 current students, and 20 vehicles (including ground, air, and water-based systems). The focus of work is on close interaction of unmanned systems with unstructured environments, and the necessary research to support these interactions, from the controls, sensors, and interaction perspectives. NIMBUS has two Vicon laboratories, with workspaces in both the flight labs and in dedicated writing areas. Videos of current projects can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/user/nimbuslab.
