Call for Papers: 16th IEEE International Conference on Factory Communication Systems
Call for Papers
16th IEEE International Conference on Factory Communication Systems and Special Section in the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics
The use of Automation has been expanding for many years, at a growing rate, from industry to homes, offices, buildings, transportation, i.e., practically all domains that affect our everyday lives.
Simultaneously, we have seen a clear drift towards distribution, with communications playing a decisive role in supporting automation systems.
The 16th edition of WFCS together with this Special Section of TII will focus on the communications that support automation and their recent developments, from technologies and techniques to analysis and design tools, as well as applications. WFCS is the largest IEEE conference especially dedicated to communications for (industrial) automation systems.
It is back in Porto 20 years after to celebrate its 25th anniversary!
The inaugural edition took place in Leysin, Switzerland, on October 4-6, 1995, followed by the second edition in Barcelona, on October 1-3 of 1997 and the third edition in Porto, on September 6-8 of 2000. These events joined a vibrant community working on communications for automation, with a focus on industrial automation but also considering other forms of automation. This time, on April 27-29 of 2020, WFCS will have its 16th edition, supported by IEEE and IES, and led by the IEEE TC on Factory Automation. The event will be hosted, as 20 years ago, by CISTER and organized in collaboration with the AUC in Cairo, Egypt, and FEUP and ISEP in Porto, Portugal. WFCS aim is to provide a forum for researchers, developers and practitioners to review and discuss most recent trends in the area and share innovative research directions. Mark the dates in your calendar and prepare your submissions. If you have interests in this broad area, whether you are in academia, governmental agencies or industry, this is an event not to be missed!
