Secure Native Binary Executions--April 2020 Q1
PI(s): Prasad Kulkarni
HARD PROBLEM(S) ADDRESSED:
Scalability and Composability, Security Metrics
PUBLIC ACCOMPLISHMENT HIGHLIGHTS:
Our overall project goal is to develop a high-performance framework for client-side security assessment and enforcement for binary software.
In this quarter our team explored the following question at the University of Kansas: How do the capabilities of state-of-the-art reverse engineering tools compare with the latest innovations and techniques proposed in research?
Dr. Jantz and his team at the University of Tennessee (sub-contract) continued developing a custom binary instrumentation tool to reduce the execution time overhead of analyzing and performing security checks in programs where source code is not available.
