Call for Brief Presentations: RTSS 2020
Call for Brief Presentations
41st IEEE Real-Time Systems Symposium (RTSS 2020)
December 1-4, 2020 | Houston, Texas | http://2020.rtss.org
Brief Presentations session includes WiP, JnP, and CnP contributions.
Important Dates
- Wednesday 23rd Sept 2020 - Submission Deadline
- Friday 16th Oct 2020 - Notification of Acceptance
- Thursday 29th Oct 2020 - Camera Ready Deadline
For Work-in-Progress (WiP)
The primary purpose of the Brief Presentations (BP) session of the IEEE Real-Time Systems Symposium (RTSS 2020) is to provide researchers with an opportunity to discuss their ideas and gather feedback from the real-time community at large.
Expected submissions are extended abstracts describing exciting and novel research. Ideas and contributions that present significant paradigm shifts, explore unique and unconventional approaches to important problems, or investigate fundamental departures from conventional wisdom in adopted solutions are particularly welcome.
Work-in-Progress presentations will introduce on-going research in all aspects of real-time systems, including theory, design, analysis, implementation, evaluation, and experience.
For Journal papers never Presented (JnP)
The secondary purpose of the Brief Presentations session is to provide researchers with the opportunity to present high-quality journal contributions that have not been presented at a conference.
Journal paper presentations should provide an extended abstract of the paper, explaining the relevance to RTSS, discussing its impact, and clearly citing the journal work being presented. This would allow participants to present work published elsewhere that is relevant to the RTSS community and might not be widely known.
For Conference papers never Presented (CnP)
The last purpose of the Brief Presentations session is to provide researchers with the opportunity to present high-quality conference contributions that have not been presented at a conference. Due to COVID-19 situations, it may that the conference where the paper was published has been canceled with no remote virtual session.
As for JnP, conference paper presentations should provide an extended abstract of the paper, explaining the relevance to RTSS, discussing its impact, and clearly citing the conference work being presented.
Call for brief presentations
The brief presentations submissions are expected to showcase on-going or accepted research in the areas of both real-time systems theory and practice. Case-studies of real-time systems are particularly interesting. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
- Adaptive systems theory and practice
- Architectural support
- Case studies
- Compiler support
- Cyber-physical systems
- Design and Verification
- Embedded systems
- Energy management
- Formal methods
- Model-based development
- Multicore real-time support
- Multi-criticality analysis and support
- Multimedia computing
- Performance modeling
- Probabilistic Real-Time Systems
- QoS support
- Real-time and dependability
- Real-time databases
- Real-time programming languages
- Real-time sensor/actuator networks
- Real-time systems middleware
- Scheduling algorithms
- Security and safety
- Software engineering
- System development tools
- Systems integration
- Wireless Sensor Networks
- Worst-case execution time analysis
Submissions will be considered for inclusion in the program based on their relevance to RTSS and the amount of time available for the BP session.
One author of every accepted paper must register for the conference and present the paper during the conference. All the papers will be presented orally and in a poster session.

Submission Instructions
- For a Work-in-Progress paper submission, a 2 to 4-page paper describing original on-going work is required. Please include Work-in-Progress in the title, i.e. "Work-In-Progress: Title of Paper".
- For a Journal / Conference Paper Presentation submission, a 1 to 2-page extended abstract summarizing the journal paper is required. The abstract title should indicate that the submission is a previously accepted journal paper, i.e. "Journal-never-Presented: Title of Paper" or a previously accepted conference paper, i.e. "Conference-never-Presented: Title of Paper" .
- Papers must be submitted as a single pdf document, and the length of submitted documents should NOT exceed the page limit including references and figures - submissions exceeding the page limits will not be reviewed.
Papers should be formatted as single-space, double-column (normal IEEE format), in a 10-point font. Templates are available at: http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html
Accepted WiP papers will be included in the main RTSS proceedings. Accepted JnP/CnP papers will not appear in any printed form at the conference (since they are summaries of work published elsewhere).
The submissions should indicate the name of the author(s) clearly on the first page.
