ABOUT CISTER:
CISTER (Research Centre in Real-Time and Embedded Computing Systems),
established in 1997, is a top-ranked Research Unit based at the School of
Engineering (ISEP) of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP), Portugal.
CISTER was, in the 2004 and 2007 national evaluation processes, the only
research unit in Portugal, in the area of Electrical and Computer
Engineering & Computer Science and Engineering, to be awarded the highest
rating of "Excellent". This rating was awarded on account of an outstanding
publication record of its researchers; CISTER is also considered to be one
of the leading European units in the area of Real-Time Computing and
Embedded Systems. CISTER is currently expanding, both in terms of research
activities as well as in facilities, with a new building which not only
doubles the current capacity of the centre, but also provides a top-quality
environment for research, technology transfer, and networking activities.
Since mid-2011, CISTER is an autonomous research unit associated to INESC
Technology and Science (INESC TEC), an Associate Laboratory that brings
together close to 600 researchers, of which 200 have PhDs, forming a robust
centre of scientific and technological development in Portugal with notable
international presence.
The CISTER Research Centre is currently deeply engaged in various
fundamental research as well as industrial-driven projects, in application
domains that include aerospace, automotive, smart-grids, smart-cities,
health and well-being, factory automation, etc. In those projects we partner
with key players such as Airbus, Embraer, ABB, Critical Software, Intecs,
Thales, Boeing, Honeywell, Portugal Telecom, Schneider-Electric, Siemens,
Finmecannica, among many others.
