Research Assistant Professor Position at Virginia Tech
The Kevin T. Crofton Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering at Virginia Tech invites applications for a research assistant professor position effective January 2022. Candidates for this position should be capable of conducting research with primary focus on compositional verification of complex cyber-physical systems, such as autonomous underwater vehicles and unmanned aircraft systems, leveraging important recent advances in optimization and robust control for this purpose. A Ph.D. degree in aerospace engineering, ocean engineering, or a closely related field is required.
Candidates should have research expertise in the areas of robust control theory and/or formal methods. Areas of particular interest include integral quadratic constraint (IQC)-based robustness analysis and compositional verification. Expertise in areas such as networked control, convex optimization, and their applications to aerospace and ocean systems will be highly desirable.
