The cybercriminal group is believed to have originated in 2019 as an offshoot of the profit-driven FIN11 gang, while the malware it uses is a descendant of the earlier CryptoMix. Sahariya says that the CryptoMix ransomware, which is also associated with FIN11, appears to be an ancestor (or variant) of the Cl0p malware.
