The Desert Research Institute (DRI) is seeking an innovation post-doctoral fellow in Cyber-physical Systems to join a small team that will support the newly launched Applied Innovation Center in Advanced Analytics (AIC). The new AIC will partner with business within and outside Nevada to help translate scientific ideas into practical solutions using fee-based business model called contract innovation services. The AIC environment is similar to a technology start-up. AIC will specialize in one of the highest growth areas for technological innovation and economic impact: information technology, data science, and engineering for intelligent systems and operations. The successful candidate will design, implement and investigate advanced automation systems, sensor networks and data streams.

Responsibilities for All Innovation Fellows

  • Work as part of the AIC team that includes business development, project management, developers, and interns
  • As part of the business development team, participate in business development activities and identify important business opportunities with industry and government agencies
  • Work with AIC team to engage in R&D on behalf of clients
  • Establish and grow investigative professional competency in Cyber-physical Systems
  • Generate intellectual property
  • Author and contribute to grant proposals
  • Supervisor, mentor and direct student interns

REQUIRED QUALIFCATIONS

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a quantitative field in Science or Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Demonstrated expertise in Cyber-physical Systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in an object-oriented programming language
  • Excellent customer service and ability to interact professionally with internal and external clients
