NSF Workshop for Aspiring PIs in Cyber-Physical Systems

This invitation-only workshop took place over February 18-19, 2014. Invitations were issued to researchers with interests and potential impact in Cyber-Physical Systems, with an emphasis on early career researchers. The goal of the workshop was to help aspiring PIs understand what NSF (and importantly, the panels convened by NSF) are expecting to see in a successful CPS proposal.

The workshop was held 18-19 February 2014, and was sponsored by the National Science Foundation under award CNS-1419419, under the direction of Jonathan Sprinkle of the University of Arizona.

Update: The paperwork for all participants who were awarded travel support has been signed and filed by the PI for reimbursement. We hope that the necessary forms are completed and boxes ticked to have the process nearing completion. When your travel reimbursement is approved, you should receive a check in the mail, and the reimbursement should not be subject to taxable income.

The workshop took place over February 18-19. On 18 February the workshop sessions concluded around 3:30 or earlier, and on 19 February we concluded around 11:00 am. The remaining part of Tuesday was devoted to scheduled meetings between aspiring PIs and PDs. The remaining part of Wednesday was left open for travel, or to schedule meetings with other program directors who are located in the Washington, DC area. The NSF Workshop for Aspiring PIs in CPS will be held at the Waterview Conference Center (WCC) during February 18-19, 2014. The WCC is located at 1919 North Lynn Street in the Rosslyn community of Arlington, Virginia. The WCC is located about 3.3 miles west of the National Science Foundation traveling on Wilson Boulevard.

Workshop attendees are responsible for finding their own lodging facilities and making their own reservations. (There is no room block.)
Immediately following are three hotels that are in walking distance of the meeting venue that have been recommended in priority order by the WCC:
