Visible to the public  2015 NSF Cybersecurity Summit for Large Facilities and Cyberinfrastructure
Aug 17, 2015 8:00 am - Aug 19, 2015 5:00 pm EDT

The NSF cyberinfrastructure ecosystem presented an aggregate of complex cybersecurity needs (e.g., scientific data and instruments, unique computational and storage resources, complex collaborations) as compared to other organizations and sectors. This community had a unique opportunity to develop information security practices tailored to these needs, as well as break new ground on efficient, effective ways to protect information assets while supporting science.

Visible to the public  DISC Summer School on 'Control for Cyber-Physical Systems'
Jun 01, 2015 9:00 am - Jun 04, 2015 5:00 pm CDT

The design of next generation smart electricity grids, intelligent transportation, electron microscopy and high-end printing requires a tight coordination between computation, communication and control elements (the cyber part) on the one hand, and physical processes such as heating, cooling, motion, vibrations, etc. (the physical part) on the other hand. Despite the need for integrated design of these so-called Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), the corresponding scientific disciplines (control, computer science, etc.) have predominantly developed independently.
