3-Axis Force Estimation of a Soft Skin Sensor using Permanent Magnetic Elastomer (PME) Sheet with Strong Remanence. 2022 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM). :302–307.
.
2022. This paper describes a prototype of a novel Permanent Magnetic Elastomer (PME) sheet based skin sensor for robotic applications. Its working principle is to use a Hall effect transducer to measure the change of magnetic field. PME is a polymer that has Neodymium particles distributed inside it, after strong magnetization for anisotropy, the PME acquires strong remanent magnetization that can be comparable to that of a permanent magnet, in this work, we made improvement of the strength of the magnetic field of PME, so it achieved magnetic strength as high as 25 mT when there is no deformation. When external forces apply on the sensor, the deformation of PME causes a change in the magnetic field due to the change in the alignment of the magnetic particles. Compared with other soft magnetic sensors that employ similar technology, we implemented linear regression method to simplify the calibration, so we focus on the point right above the magnetometer. An MLX90393 chip is installed at the bottom of the PME as the magnetometer. Experimental results show that it can measure forces from 0.01–10 N. Calibration is confirmed effective even for shear directions when the surface of PME is less than 15 x 15 mm.

6G toward Metaverse: Technologies, Applications, and Challenges. 2022 IEEE VTS Asia Pacific Wireless Communications Symposium (APWCS). :6–10.
.
2022. Metaverse opens up a new social networking paradigm where people can experience a real interactive feeling without physical space constraints. Social interactions are gradually evolving from text combined with pictures and videos to 3-dimensional virtual reality, making the social experience increasingly physical, implying that more metaverse applications with immersive experiences will be developed in the future. However, the increasing data dimensionality and volume for new metaverse applications present a significant challenge in data acquisition, security, and sharing. Furthermore, metaverse applications require high capacity and ultrareliability for the wireless system to guarantee the quality of user experience, which cannot be addressed in the current fifth-generation system. Therefore, reaching the metaverse is dependent on the revolution in the sixth-generation (6G) wireless communication, which is expected to provide low-latency, high-throughput, and secure services. This article provides a comprehensive view of metaverse applications and investigates the fundamental technologies for the 6G toward metaverse.
aaeCAPTCHA: The Design and Implementation of Audio Adversarial CAPTCHA. 2022 IEEE 7th European Symposium on Security and Privacy (EuroS&P). :430–447.
.
2022. CAPTCHAs are designed to prevent malicious bot programs from abusing websites. Most online service providers deploy audio CAPTCHAs as an alternative to text and image CAPTCHAs for visually impaired users. However, prior research investigating the security of audio CAPTCHAs found them highly vulnerable to automated attacks using Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) systems. To improve the robustness of audio CAPTCHAs against automated abuses, we present the design and implementation of an audio adversarial CAPTCHA (aaeCAPTCHA) system in this paper. The aaeCAPTCHA system exploits audio adversarial examples as CAPTCHAs to prevent the ASR systems from automatically solving them. Furthermore, we conducted a rigorous security evaluation of our new audio CAPTCHA design against five state-of-the-art DNN-based ASR systems and three commercial Speech-to-Text (STT) services. Our experimental evaluations demonstrate that aaeCAPTCHA is highly secure against these speech recognition technologies, even when the attacker has complete knowledge of the current attacks against audio adversarial examples. We also conducted a usability evaluation of the proof-of-concept implementation of the aaeCAPTCHA scheme. Our results show that it achieves high robustness at a moderate usability cost compared to normal audio CAPTCHAs. Finally, our extensive analysis highlights that aaeCAPTCHA can significantly enhance the security and robustness of traditional audio CAPTCHA systems while maintaining similar usability.
An Accurate False Data Injection Attack (FDIA) Detection in Renewable-Rich Power Grids. 2022 10th Workshop on Modelling and Simulation of Cyber-Physical Energy Systems (MSCPES). :1–5.
.
2022. An accurate state estimation (SE) considering increased uncertainty by the high penetration of renewable energy systems (RESs) is more and more important to enhance situational awareness, and the optimal and resilient operation of the renewable-rich power grids. However, it is anticipated that adversaries who plan to manipulate the target power grid will generate attacks that inject inaccurate data to the SE using the vulnerabilities of the devices and networks. Among potential attack types, false data injection attack (FDIA) is gaining popularity since this can bypass bad data detection (BDD) methods implemented in the SE systems. Although numerous FDIA detection methods have been recently proposed, the uncertainty of system configuration that arises by the continuously increasing penetration of RESs has been been given less consideration in the FDIA algorithms. To address this issue, this paper proposes a new FDIA detection scheme that is applicable to renewable energy-rich power grids. A deep learning framework is developed in particular by synergistically constructing a Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) with modern smart grid characteristics. The developed framework is evaluated on the IEEE 14-bus system integrating several RESs by using several attack scenarios. A comparison of the numerical results shows that the proposed FDIA detection mechanism outperforms the existing deep learning-based approaches in a renewable energy-rich grid environment.
Achieving Privacy-preserving Data Sharing for Dual Clouds. 2022 IEEE International Conferences on Internet of Things (iThings) and IEEE Green Computing & Communications (GreenCom) and IEEE Cyber, Physical & Social Computing (CPSCom) and IEEE Smart Data (SmartData) and IEEE Congress on Cybermatics (Cybermatics). :139–146.
.
2022. With the advent of the era of Internet of Things (IoT), the increasing data volume leads to storage outsourcing as a new trend for enterprises and individuals. However, data breaches frequently occur, bringing significant challenges to the privacy protection of the outsourced data management system. There is an urgent need for efficient and secure data sharing schemes for the outsourced data management infrastructure, such as the cloud. Therefore, this paper designs a dual-server-based data sharing scheme with data privacy and high efficiency for the cloud, enabling the internal members to exchange their data efficiently and securely. Dual servers guarantee that none of the servers can get complete data independently by adopting secure two-party computation. In our proposed scheme, if the data is destroyed when sending it to the user, the data will not be restored. To prevent the malicious deletion, the data owner adds a random number to verify the identity during the uploading procedure. To ensure data security, the data is transmitted in ciphertext throughout the process by using searchable encryption. Finally, the black-box leakage analysis and theoretical performance evaluation demonstrate that our proposed data sharing scheme provides solid security and high efficiency in practice.
Adaptive control of bilateral teleoperation systems with false data injection attacks and attacks detection. 2022 41st Chinese Control Conference (CCC). :4407—4412.
.
2022. This paper studies adaptive control of bilateral teleoperation systems with false data injection attacks. The model of bilateral teleoperation system with false data injection attacks is presented. An off-line identification approach based on the least squares is used to detect whether false data injection attacks occur or not in the communication channel. Two Bernoulli distributed variables are introduced to describe the packet dropouts and false data injection attacks in the network. An adaptive controller is proposed to deal stability of the system with false data injection attacks. Some sufficient conditions are proposed to ensure the globally asymptotical stability of the system under false data injection attacks by using Lyapunov functional methods. A bilateral teleoperation system with two degrees of freedom is used to show the effectiveness of gained results.
An Adversarial Approach: Comparing Windows and Linux Security Hardness Using Mitre ATT&CK Framework for Offensive Security. 2022 IEEE 19th International Conference on Smart Communities: Improving Quality of Life Using ICT, IoT and AI (HONET). :022–027.
.
2022. Operating systems are essential software components for any computer. The goal of computer system manu-facturers is to provide a safe operating system that can resist a range of assaults. APTs (Advanced Persistent Threats) are merely one kind of attack used by hackers to penetrate organisations (APT). Here, we will apply the MITRE ATT&CK approach to analyze the security of Windows and Linux. Using the results of a series of vulnerability tests conducted on Windows 7, 8, 10, and Windows Server 2012, as well as Linux 16.04, 18.04, and its most current version, we can establish which operating system offers the most protection against future assaults. In addition, we have shown adversarial reflection in response to threats. We used ATT &CK framework tools to launch attacks on both platforms.

Adversarial Audio Detection Method Based on Transformer. 2022 International Conference on Machine Learning and Intelligent Systems Engineering (MLISE). :77–82.
.
2022. Speech recognition technology has been applied to all aspects of our daily life, but it faces many security issues. One of the major threats is the adversarial audio examples, which may tamper the recognition results of the acoustic speech recognition system (ASR). In this paper, we propose an adversarial detection framework to detect adversarial audio examples. The method is based on the transformer self-attention mechanism. Spectrogram features are extracted from the audio and divided into patches. Position information are embedded and then fed into transformer encoder. Experimental results show that the method achieves good performance with the detection accuracy of above 96.5% under the white-box attacks and blackbox attacks, and noisy circumstances. Even when detecting adversarial examples generated by the unknown attacks, it also achieves satisfactory results.
AI-based Network Security Enhancement for 5G Industrial Internet of Things Environments. 2022 13th International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Convergence (ICTC). :971–975.
.
2022. The recent 5G networks aim to provide higher speed, lower latency, and greater capacity; therefore, compared to the previous mobile networks, more advanced and intelligent network security is essential for 5G networks. To detect unknown and evolving 5G network intrusions, this paper presents an artificial intelligence (AI)-based network threat detection system to perform data labeling, data filtering, data preprocessing, and data learning for 5G network flow and security event data. The performance evaluations are first conducted on two well-known datasets-NSL-KDD and CICIDS 2017; then, the practical testing of proposed system is performed in 5G industrial IoT environments. To demonstrate detection against network threats in real 5G environments, this study utilizes the 5G model factory, which is downscaled to a real smart factory that comprises a number of 5G industrial IoT-based devices.

Analysis and Mitigation of Data Sanitization Overhead in DAX File Systems. 2022 IEEE 40th International Conference on Computer Design (ICCD). :255–258.
.
2022. A direct access (DAX) file system maximizes the benefit of persistent memory(PM)’s low latency through removing the page cache layer from the file system access paths. However, this paper reveals that data block allocation of the DAX file systems in common is significantly slower than that of conventional file systems because the DAX file systems require the zero-out operation for the newly allocated blocks to prevent the leakage of old data previously stored in the allocated data blocks. The retarded block allocation significantly affects the file write performance. In addition to this revelation, this paper proposes an off-critical-path data block sanitization scheme tailored for DAX file systems. The proposed scheme detaches the zero-out operation from the latency-critical I/O path and performs that of released data blocks in the background. The proposed scheme’s design principle is universally applicable to most DAX file systems. For evaluation, we implemented our approach in Ext4-DAX and XFS-DAX. Our evaluation showed that the proposed scheme reduces the append write latency by 36.8%, and improved the performance of FileBench’s fileserver workload by 30.4%, YCSB’s workload A on RocksDB by 3.3%, and the Redis-benchmark by 7.4% on average, respectively.

Analysis of the Optimized KNN Algorithm for the Data Security of DR Service. 2022 IEEE 6th Conference on Energy Internet and Energy System Integration (EI2). :1634–1637.
.
2022. The data of large-scale distributed demand-side iot devices are gradually migrated to the cloud. This cloud deployment mode makes it convenient for IoT devices to participate in the interaction between supply and demand, and at the same time exposes various vulnerabilities of IoT devices to the Internet, which can be easily accessed and manipulated by hackers to launch large-scale DDoS attacks. As an easy-to-understand supervised learning classification algorithm, KNN can obtain more accurate classification results without too many adjustment parameters, and has achieved many research achievements in the field of DDoS detection. However, in the face of high-dimensional data, this method has high operation cost, high cost and not practical. Aiming at this disadvantage, this chapter explores the potential of classical KNN algorithm in data storage structure, K-nearest neighbor search and hyperparameter optimization, and proposes an improved KNN algorithm for DDoS attack detection of demand-side IoT devices.
Analysis Of The Small UAV Trajectory Detection Algorithm Based On The “l/n-d” Criterion Using Kalman Filtering Due To FMCW Radar Data. 2022 IEEE 16th International Conference on Advanced Trends in Radioelectronics, Telecommunications and Computer Engineering (TCSET). :741—745.
.
2022. Promising means of detecting small UAVs are FMCW radar systems. Small UAVs with an RCS value of the order of 10−3••• 10−1m2 are characterized by a low SNR (less than 10 dB). To ensure an acceptable probability of detection in the resolution element (more than 0.9), it becomes necessary to reduce the detection threshold. However, this leads to a significant increase in the probability of false alarms (more than 10−3) and is accompanied by the appearance of a large number of false plots. The work describes an algorithm for trajectory detecting of a small UAV based on a “l/n-d” criterion using Kalman filtering in a spherical coordinate system due to FMCW radar data. Statistical analysis of algorithms based on two types of criteria “3/5-2” and “5/9-2” is performed. It is shown that the algorithms allow to achieve the probability of target trajectory detection greater than 0.9 and low probability of false detection of the target trajectory less than 10−4 with the false alarm probability in the resolution element 10−3••• 10−2•

Analytics at Scale: Evolution at Infrastructure and Algorithmic Levels. 2022 IEEE 38th International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE). :3217–3220.
.
2022. Data Analytics is at the core of almost all modern ap-plications ranging from science and finance to healthcare and web applications. The evolution of data analytics over the last decade has been dramatic - new methods, new tools and new platforms - with no slowdown in sight. This rapid evolution has pushed the boundaries of data analytics along several axis including scalability especially with the rise of distributed infrastructures and the Big Data era, and interoperability with diverse data management systems such as relational databases, Hadoop and Spark. However, many analytic application developers struggle with the challenge of production deployment. Recent experience suggests that it is difficult to deliver modern data analytics with the level of reliability, security and manageability that has been a feature of traditional SQL DBMSs. In this tutorial, we discuss the advances and innovations introduced at both the infrastructure and algorithmic levels, directed at making analytic workloads scale, while paying close attention to the kind of quality of service guarantees different technology provide. We start with an overview of the classical centralized analytical techniques, describing the shift towards distributed analytics over non-SQL infrastructures. We contrast such approaches with systems that integrate analytic functionality inside, above or adjacent to SQL engines. We also explore how Cloud platforms' virtualization capabilities make it easier - and cheaper - for end users to apply these new analytic techniques to their data. Finally, we conclude with the learned lessons and a vision for the near future.

Analytics for Cybersecurity Policy of Cyber-Physical Systems. 2022 IEEE International Symposium on Technologies for Homeland Security (HST). :1—7.
.
2022. Guidelines, directives, and policy statements are usually presented in “linear” text form - word after word, page after page. However necessary, this practice impedes full understanding, obscures feedback dynamics, hides mutual dependencies and cascading effects and the like-even when augmented with tables and diagrams. The net result is often a checklist response as an end in itself. All this creates barriers to intended realization of guidelines and undermines potential effectiveness. We present a solution strategy using text as “data”, transforming text into a structured model, and generate network views of the text(s), that we then can use for vulnerability mapping, risk assessments and note control point analysis. For proof of concept we draw on NIST conceptual model and analysis of guidelines for smart grid cybersecurity, more than 600 pages of text.

The anatomy of design theory framework is used to analyze the necessary components of the anticipated design theory for InfoSec labs in future.
Analyzing Metadata in PDF Files Published by Police Agencies in Japan. 2022 IEEE 22nd International Conference on Software Quality, Reliability, and Security Companion (QRS-C). :145–151.
.
2022. In recent years, new types of cyber attacks called targeted attacks have been observed. It targets specific organizations or individuals, while usual large-scale attacks do not focus on specific targets. Organizations have published many Word or PDF files on their websites. These files may provide the starting point for targeted attacks if they include hidden data unintentionally generated in the authoring process. Adhatarao and Lauradoux analyzed hidden data found in the PDF files published by security agencies in many countries and showed that many PDF files potentially leak information like author names, details on the information system and computer architecture. In this study, we analyze hidden data of PDF files published on the website of police agencies in Japan and compare the results with Adhatarao and Lauradoux's. We gathered 110989 PDF files. 56% of gathered PDF files contain personal names, organization names, usernames, or numbers that seem to be IDs within the organizations. 96% of PDF files contain software names.

Anomaly Detection and Anomaly Location Model for Multiple Attacks Using Finite Automata. 2022 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE). :01—06.
.
2022. In control systems, the operation of the system after an incident occurs is important. This paper proposes to design a whitelist model that can detect anomalies and identify locations of anomalous actuators using finite automata during multiple actuators attack. By applying this model and comparing the whitelist model with the operation data, the monitoring system detects anomalies and identifies anomaly locations of actuator that deviate from normal operation. We propose to construct a whitelist model focusing on the order of the control system operation using binary search trees, which can grasp the state of the system when anomalies occur. We also apply combinatorial compression based on BDD (Binary Decision Diagram) to the model to speed up querying and identification of abnormalities. Based on the model designed in this study, we aim to construct a secured control system that selects and executes an appropriate fallback operation based on the state of the system when anomaly is detected.
Application and Parallel Sandbox Testing Architecture for Network Security Isolation based on Cloud Desktop. 2022 International Conference on Inventive Computation Technologies (ICICT). :879–882.
.
2022. Network security isolation technology is an important means to protect the internal information security of enterprises. Generally, isolation is achieved through traditional network devices, such as firewalls and gatekeepers. However, the security rules are relatively rigid and cannot better meet the flexible and changeable business needs. Through the double sandbox structure created for each user, each user in the virtual machine is isolated from each other and security is ensured. By creating a virtual disk in a virtual machine as a user storage sandbox, and encrypting the read and write of the disk, the shortcomings of traditional network isolation methods are discussed, and the application of cloud desktop network isolation technology based on VMwarer technology in universities is expounded.

Application of Biometric System to Enhance the Security in Virtual World. 2022 2nd International Conference on Advance Computing and Innovative Technologies in Engineering (ICACITE). :719–723.
.
2022. Virtual worlds was becoming increasingly popular in a variety of fields, including education, business, space exploration, and video games. Establishing the security of virtual worlds was becoming more critical as they become more widely used. Virtual users were identified using a behavioral biometric system. Improve the system's ability to identify objects by fusing scores from multiple sources. Identification was based on a review of user interactions in virtual environments and a comparison with previous recordings in the database. For behavioral biometric systems like the one described, it appears that score-level biometric fusion was a promising tool for improving system performance. As virtual worlds become more immersive, more people will want to participate in them, and more people will want to be able to interact with each other. Each region of the Meta-verse was given a glimpse of the current state of affairs and the trends to come. As hardware performance and institutional and public interest continue to improve, the Meta-verse's development is hampered by limitations like computational method limits and a lack of realized collaboration between virtual world stakeholders and developers alike. A major goal of the proposed research was to verify the accuracy of the biometric system to enhance the security in virtual world. In this study, the precision of the proposed work was compared to that of previous work.
Application of Intelligent Transportation System Data using Big Data Technologies. 2022 Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications Conference (ASYU). :1–6.
.
2022. Problems such as the increase in the number of private vehicles with the population, the rise in environmental pollution, the emergence of unmet infrastructure and resource problems, and the decrease in time efficiency in cities have put local governments, cities, and countries in search of solutions. These problems faced by cities and countries are tried to be solved in the concept of smart cities and intelligent transportation by using information and communication technologies in line with the needs. While designing intelligent transportation systems (ITS), beyond traditional methods, big data should be designed in a state-of-the-art and appropriate way with the help of methods such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning. In this study, a data-driven decision support system model was established to help the business make strategic decisions with the help of intelligent transportation data and to contribute to the elimination of public transportation problems in the city. Our study model has been established using big data technologies and business intelligence technologies: a decision support system including data sources layer, data ingestion/ collection layer, data storage and processing layer, data analytics layer, application/presentation layer, developer layer, and data management/ data security layer stages. In our study, the decision support system was modeled using ITS data supported by big data technologies, where the traditional structure could not find a solution. This paper aims to create a basis for future studies looking for solutions to the problems of integration, storage, processing, and analysis of big data and to add value to the literature that is missing within the framework of the model. We provide both the lack of literature, eliminate the lack of models before the application process of existing data sets to the business intelligence architecture and a model study before the application to be carried out by the authors.

Application of Random Forest Classifier for Prevention and Detection of Distributed Denial of Service Attacks. 2022 OITS International Conference on Information Technology (OCIT). :380–384.
.
2022. A classification issue in machine learning is the issue of spotting Distributed Denial of Service (DDos) attacks. A Denial of Service (DoS) assault is essentially a deliberate attack launched from a single source with the implied intent of rendering the target's application unavailable. Attackers typically aims to consume all available network bandwidth in order to accomplish this, which inhibits authorized users from accessing system resources and denies them access. DDoS assaults, in contrast to DoS attacks, include several sources being used by the attacker to launch an attack. At the network, transportation, presentation, and application layers of a 7-layer OSI architecture, DDoS attacks are most frequently observed. With the help of the most well-known standard dataset and multiple regression analysis, we have created a machine learning model in this work that can predict DDoS and bot assaults based on traffic.
The application of white-box encryption algorithms for distributed devices on the Internet of Things. 2022 3rd International Conference on Computer Vision, Image and Deep Learning & International Conference on Computer Engineering and Applications (CVIDL & ICCEA). :298–301.
.
2022. With the rapid development of the Internet of Things and the exploration of its application scenarios, embedded devices are deployed in various environments to collect information and data. In such environments, the security of embedded devices cannot be guaranteed and are vulnerable to various attacks, even device capture attacks. When embedded devices are attacked, the attacker can obtain the information transmitted by the channel during the encryption process and the internal operation of the encryption. In this paper, we analyze various existing white-box schemes and show whether they are suitable for application in IoT. We propose an application of WBEAs for distributed devices in IoT scenarios and conduct experiments on several devices in IoT scenarios.
An Approach for P2P Based Botnet Detection Using Machine Learning. 2022 Third International Conference on Intelligent Computing Instrumentation and Control Technologies (ICICICT). :627–631.
.
2022. The internet has developed and transformed the world dramatically in recent years, which has resulted in several cyberattacks. Cybersecurity is one of society’s most serious challenge, costing millions of dollars every year. The research presented here will look into this area, focusing on malware that can establish botnets, and in particular, detecting connections made by infected workstations connecting with the attacker’s machine. In recent years, the frequency of network security incidents has risen dramatically. Botnets have previously been widely used by attackers to carry out a variety of malicious activities, such as compromising machines to monitor their activities by installing a keylogger or sniffing traffic, launching Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks, stealing the identity of the machine or credentials, and even exfiltrating data from the user’s computer. Botnet detection is still a work in progress because no one approach exists that can detect a botnet’s whole ecosystem. A detailed analysis of a botnet, discuss numerous parameter’s result of detection methods related to botnet attacks, as well as existing work of botnet identification in field of machine learning are discuss here. This paper focuses on the comparative analysis of various classifier based on design of botnet detection technique which are able to detect P2P botnet using machine learning classifier.
