Workshops & Conferences

Symposium and Bootcamp on the Science of Security (HotSoS)
The Symposium and Bootcamp on the Science of Security is an annual research event centered on the Science of Security, which aims to address the fundamental problems of security in a principled manner. The Science of Security (SoS) emphasizes the advancement of research methods as well as the development of new research results. This dual focus is intended to improve both the confidence we gain from scientific results and also the capacity and efficiency through which we address increasingly technical problems.

IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security (CNS)
The goal of this conference is to provide an outstanding forum for cyber security researchers, practitioners, policy makers, and users to exchange ideas, techniques and tools, raise awareness, and share experience related to all practical and theoretical aspects of communications and network security.

Special Interest Groups

Science of Security Virtual Organization
The National Security Agency Research Directorate sponsors the Science of Security Initiative to promote foundational cybersecurity science that is needed to mature the cybersecurity discipline and to underpin advances in cyberdefense. The SoS initiative works to engage the academic community for foundational research, promote rigorous scientific principles, and grow the SoS community. The SoS Virtual Organization is the SoS's initiative online home.

Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace Community Forum
The Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace (SaTC) program funds fundamentally new, principled approaches to protect and defend cyberspace against harmful actions by determined adversaries, and to measure their effectiveness.

Best Scientific Cybersecurity Paper Competition
The Best Scientific Cybersecurity Paper Competition is sponsored yearly by NSA's Research Directorate and reflects the Agency's desire to increase scientific rigor in the cybersecurity field. This competition was established to recognize current research that exemplifies the development of scientific rigor in cybersecurity research.

Reports

Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity Workshop Report
The National Science and Technology Council's (NSTC) Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (MLAI) Subcommittee, in collaboration with the NSTC's Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) Subcommittee and through the sponsorship of the NSTC's Special Cyber Operations Research & Engineering (SCORE) Subcommittee, held a workshop to assess the key research challenges and opportunities at the intersection of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI).

Science of Security (SoS) Annual Report
The National Security Agency (NSA) Research Directorate sponsors the Science of Security (SoS) initiative for the promotion of a foundational cybersecurity science that is needed to mature the cybersecurity discipline and to underpin advances in cyber defense.
